#TGIF Everybody! While we may be out of steam after a busy week, I want to discuss how a group of people are working behind the scenes to make humanoids a reality in the future marketplace. In June, IEEE announced the formation of a Humanoid Study Group to look at the current robot standards landscape and develop potential roadmaps for Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) to follow for standards around this type of robot. Humanoids show much promise, but regulatory agencies are asking questions that could prevent them from hitting the marketplace significantly until they are addressed. Regulatory Agencies lean on SDOs for standards on which regulations can be based, so it is key that we have strong, research-based standards ready to go when the regulations start coming. The good news is that the Study Group has hit the ground running an as they approach the halfway point in their self-imposed timeline to getting the report published, we can report some of their early findings and what that could mean. So here is a quick look behind the scenes to what the 70+ person study group is starting come up with. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ehAn9Bix
