#TGIF Everybody! While we may be out of steam after a busy week, I want to discuss how a group of people are working behind the scenes to make humanoids a reality in the future marketplace. In June, IEEE announced the formation of a Humanoid Study Group to look at the current robot standards landscape and develop potential roadmaps for Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) to follow for standards around this type of robot. Humanoids show much promise, but regulatory agencies are asking questions that could prevent them from hitting the marketplace significantly until they are addressed. Regulatory Agencies lean on SDOs for standards on which regulations can be based, so it is key that we have strong, research-based standards ready to go when the regulations start coming. The good news is that the Study Group has hit the ground running an as they approach the halfway point in their self-imposed timeline to getting the report published, we can report some of their early findings and what that could mean. So here is a quick look behind the scenes to what the 70+ person study group is starting come up with. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ehAn9Bix

Ever wondered how to make AI fit into a device smaller than your AirPods? It's not magic, it's TinyML! Laleh Makarem is organizing a super cool workshop at AMLD 2025 where she and some other geeks teach AI to live its best minimalist life. Warning: Side effects may include excessive excitement about microcontrollers and a sudden urge to put AI in everything including your toaster. 🍞✨ #TinyML #EdgeAI #AMLD2025 #AIWorkshop https://lnkd.in/eU8rBrhH

Object Detection using YOLOv8. AIMER Society - Artificial Intelligence Medical and Engineering Researchers Society. #vehicledetection Why choose YOLOv8? This model excels at pinpointing and classifying objects within images in real-time. Unlike older methods, YOLOv8 is a single-stage system, analyzing the entire image at once for efficiency. It excels in both speed and accuracy, making it suitable for various applications like self-driving cars and security systems. 🤖 Excited to share one more research on human-robot interaction and emotional responses! 📚 "It's Your Fault! The Influence of Roboldo, a Social Robot, on Human Guilt and Shame in an Interactive Game" Authors: Raul Paradeda, Álisson Oliveira e Carlos Eduardo Our study explores the intersection of robotics and human emotions, investigating how blame attribution from a social robot affects feelings of guilt and shame in humans. Using Roboldo, a cost-effective emotional robot, we conducted experiments during a memory card game to understand these complex emotional dynamics. 🔑 Key Findings: • No significant differences in guilt and shame levels when the robot blamed either the user or its developer • Consistent perceptions of the robot's friendliness across different blame conditions • Important implications for ethical robot design and human-robot interaction This research contributes to our understanding of emotional responses in human-robot interactions and highlights crucial considerations for future robot development. 🔗 Read the full paper: https://lnkd.in/deVfnXEf #Robotics #HRI #HumanRobotInteraction #AffectiveComputing #Research #SocialRobotics #Ethics #AI #UERN #Roboldo

Another great new Thales use case! 📋 Cochl create #machinelistening technology for everyone. Their flagship product, Cochl.Sense, is AI-powered software that identifies acoustic sounds and labels them with a tag such as “baby crying” or “glass break" 👂 They use Thales Sentinel to protect their Python-based applications and #AI models, and implement customer-centric licensing and registrations 🛡️ Read the full case study below ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eBktkvZM

A few weeks ago, Filmic Technologies began shipping EasyReel v1.2.7 to EZ16s around the world. This update includes a huge change in how our AI sees the film strip itself, allowing each frame to have almost twice the resolution as in previous versions of EasyReel. Some other features include: - New Auto Exposure/White Balance Tool - New Zoom Tool to assist with manually focusing the camera - New Audio Scaler to properly resample magnetic audio at slower speeds - Improved Sprocket detection for instances where sprocket is missing entirely - Optimized image processing during scan (60% improvement!) - and more!
