The Korea-India Economic Cooperation Forum in Hyderabad improved industrial cooperation between the two countries. Inviting Korean corporations to invest more in Telangana, the state #government pledged cutting-edge facilities, expertise, and a specialised framework to handle Korean investments. The Telangana government offers Korean corporations a red carpet and world-class infrastructure and skill pool to invest more.  The event, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, KOTRA, the India-Korea Business Cooperation Centre, and the Honorary Consulate General of Korea in Hyderabad with support from the Confederation of Indian Industry, promoted cooperation in sunrise industries and provided business networking #opportunities. Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu Duddilla, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications and Industries & Commerce (I&C), Telangana, said, “To address specific needs of the Korean companies, the state government not only offers the state-of-the-art #infrastructure and talent pool, it will also have a dedicated desk under Invest Telangana Cell to handhold Korean investments and provide single window service.” According to Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Hyderabad Suresh Chukkapalli, South Korea continues to dominate some household names in India, such as Hyundai, KIA, and Samsung. Youngone Corporation and other Korean brands have moved to Telangana in recent years. Korean semiconductor company APACT is partnering with ASIP in Hyderabad. Special Secretary for Investment Promotion & External Engagements and VC&MD TSIIC Govt of Telangana Dr. E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy highlighted the state's industrial ecosystem and investment policy. The international community suggests that India should serve as a counterweight to China, a notion which is a serious joke. We must protect our national interests on our own. Reflecting on history, following Mao's passing in 1976, Deng Xiaoping ascended to power in China. At that time, China's GDP was on par with India's. Deng's diplomatic approach, as encapsulated by his quote "Keep a cool head and maintain a low profile. Never take the lead - but aim to do something big," led China's silent yet impactful growth trajectory. China prioritised development, set aside contentious matters, and fostered economic ties with countries like Japan and Taiwan. The current assertiveness exhibited by China stems from its steadfast focus on economic advancement and the resultant benefits. Agree or not, but the fact is that China is now at least a decade ahead of us. Today no one can repeat the bombing incident of the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia by the US in 1999, even by mistake. If there is one Chinese statesman that Indians need to read and understand is not Mao or Sun Zu, but Deng Xioping. We desperately need an Indian Deng.
