But there’s another, less-discussed aspect —> AI’s role in corporate decision-making. It’s not just about using AI; it’s about how we use it alongside human judgment. An inspiring paper by Yash Raj Shrestha et al. (2019) (yes, it’s been a few years, but still highly relevant!) highlights four different approaches to integrating AI into business decisions: 1️⃣ Full Human to AI Delegation: Let AI take the reins entirely, but remember, responsibility still lies with us. 2️⃣ Hybrid 1: AI to Human Sequential Decision-Making: AI narrows down the options, and humans make the final call. 3️⃣ Hybrid 2: Human to AI Sequential Decision-Making: Humans make the initial selection, and AI fine-tunes the decision. 4️⃣ Aggregated Human–AI Decision-Making: Both humans and AI contribute to the decision, combining their strengths. While putting AI into action is high on the agenda for many top executives, it’s equally crucial to carefully consider which approach to adopt. AI: The Good, The Bad & the Ugly! It was a wonderful opportunity to be on the panel discussing the case for using AI in business. 🤔 WHAT are the pros and cons of adopting AI? 📅 WHEN should we use it? 🛠️ HOW should we use it? It could be a useful tool or possibly detrimental without a clear understanding of the potential consequences. My view, being part of a software business that provides the transitional technology for filling forms and collecting data by people on the ground, in the field (EXTAG - Custom Asset Management System), I would like to pose the following: 🔍 What data is the AI model being trained on? How good is it? These questions require deep and ongoing conversations. The panel put together by the LESANZ Inc WA chapter was highly topical.
