Two years ago, I started a company called Motif with Brian, Matt and Lira. We joined forces to build a product that will change the daily lives of society’s unsung heroes: the architects, engineers and construction leaders who literally build the world we inhabit. Not only that, we wanted to build the kind of company we want to see more of in the world. A company that cares more about its craft, that knows how to actually collaborate with customers, that is genuinely invested in creating a better future for our planet. You can read about our view of the world here: https://motif.io/blog.html Since then, we have been joined by some amazing folks who have helped shape some of the most iconic software and products of our time: great minds from Revit, OnShape, Twitter, Vimeo and Tesla, to name a few. Today, we’re coming out of stealth so that we can welcome more new faces, and great minds, through our door. Here's a bit of the backstory: https://lnkd.in/d2W2_dCr If you’re the kind of person who watches Rust and WebGPU videos on YouTube instead of the latest Netflix show, we want to hear from you. If you’re the kind of person who’d rather tweak the latest Deepseek model than the latest Candy Crush, we want to hear from you. If you've been waiting for the right company to tackle what the building industry needs, we want to hear from you We are full of conviction, we are focused and we are ready to make a difference. Congratulations Amar, so good to see one of the nice guys win!
“This lack of innovation isn’t due to a lack of opportunity […], it stems from complacency among incumbent vendors with near-monopolistic control” -> it is hard to disagree with that and it is good to hear this from you ! Good luck with the new adventure !
Amar, I now understand why Matt was so quiet when I met him in London 😅 It's great to see the launch, and I look forward to both the product updates and our next conversation. All the best 🚀

Great news! The AEC design space is a mess. Autodesk's near monopoly does not lend itself to reengineering the tools to meet customer needs in a way that leads to impactful changes that would improve customers' ability to innovate and rapidly enhance their efficiency and productivity. This is especially true when trying to take lessons from the manufacturing world to AEC. I am excited to see such a talented group of people taking on this challenge!
Congrats, to the team, and Amar and Brian! Having worked closely with you both at Autodesk, I know firsthand the vision, passion, and determination you bring to solving big challenges. Motif is exactly the kind of innovation the building industry needs—redefining what’s possible and putting AEC pros at the center. Can’t wait to see the impact you make!
Congrats guys! Just last week, I had the thought that Brian must be meditating on a mountaintop somewhere.... oops
It's wonderful to hear what you've been up to, Amar Hanspal. I am cheering you on and will eagerly follow your progress.

1moYes! Amar, Brian, Matt, I couldn’t be more excited to see Motif come to life. Your vision, passion, and commitment to building something truly impactful is inspiring. I have no doubt that you’re going to change the game for the architects, engineers, and builders who shape our world. Cheering you on and can’t wait to see what’s ahead! Amar, Brian, welcome back to AEC... you've been missed.
