BREAKING: Scotland delivered yet another record performance attracting Foreign Direct Investment with increased investor confidence. 💥 A record 142 FDI projects 2023 – the only part of the UK to see 5 years consecutive growth - its highest in the past decade 💥 Number of Scotland FDI projects increase by 12.7% on previous year, with UK projects rising by 6% 🏙 Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen in top 10 UK cities 🇺🇸The US is the top country of origin for inward investment 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Sentiment amongst investors continues to rise, with 26% of those planning to invest in the UK choosing Scotland ahead of other locations   Scotland has been #1 outside London in 9 of the past 10 years, but this status can’t be taken for granted: other parts of the UK are closing in on Scotland’s lead. Impressive performance given some of the perceived barriers around the personal tax regime . When it comes to attracting investment from overseas Scotland has a proven track record of Scottish Enterprise , local authorities and other stakeholders working together to get things done . Long may it continue to be the case

Most of this is accounted for by one-off renewables investments as part of the ScotWind leasing round in 2022, so not as impressive as one might initially think. As EY says, the challenge is: where is the next wave of FDI coming from?

Great to see Scotland continuing to do well, and interesting to see the upward trend of investment from Germany and France in particular
