It’s time to trash the toxic playbook. If you've been told that "being a man" means only caring about yourself, you've been lied to. That's actually why I started #BusinessDad; to push back on that narrative and to prove that all the most successful men out there are building great careers AND being great Dads, at the same time. Shoutout to the guys out there who value the parts of masculinity—like fatherhood—that don't go viral. We know that greatness isn't only about the work we do, it's about the families we build. And it's time to flip the script on what masculinity means.
Where is this “being a man means only caring about yourself” narrative coming from? Feels like a massive straw man argument to push #BusinessDad. You just throw that out there and compare it to fatherhood? Fatherhood matters, but masculinity isn’t a simplistic choice between selfishness and parenthood. No need to manufacture a villain to make that point.
🪐 You are a #SupportHER Alexis Ohanian Sr. We need to see male role models who are thriving in all areas of life and prioritize family and championing women. Love to see the conversations happening that embrace conscious fatherhood. I’ll be sharing #businessdads with my son who is 18. I created SupportHER to amplify men who are champions for women. We created SupportHER membership to invite men to be part of the conversation. These conversations happening for men to support eachother and build healthy masculinity is long over due. I would love connect and share with you about SupportHER Alexis Ohanian Sr.
Alexis Ohanian Sr. I would LOVE to see more #BusinessDads and men, generally, made aware of & get involved with UN Women #HeForShe initiative. Lots of excellent resources & connections focused on men as allies for women in various industries, all over the globe... cc Ghita El Khyari David Smith Brad Johnson PhD HIT Like a Girl Pod Joy Rios Shereese Maynard, MS, MBA She/Her Grace Vinton Dana Trampas, MPH
Agree. We can’t forget about our men. They need to be heard and valued. On the female side I actually just posted on my IG before seeing this. That high value women are no longer valued, it’s filled with exposed bodies. Not what’s sacred anymore. Only fans is making more than pro players. It’s both sides of the sexes that is shaping the society
Well said and Thank you for saying it Alexis Ohanian Sr.! We have to support young Men BEFORE they go down the false "Masculine" path and realize that there's much more to being a "Man" than what many see online etc. Keep up the great work, sharing great, real, authentic stories and inspiring all humans to be their best selves
Alexis Ohanian Sr. I love this so much. Thank you for opening this crucial conversation. A conscious father makes an incredible leader one who leads with heart and understands the importance of truly being present for their children. Nurturing a child and creating an environment where they can thrive isn’t all that different from what it takes to build a strong, sustainable business. For too long, we’ve been conditioned to accept rigid definitions of masculinity, reinforcing a polarity that fuels division. But real strength isn’t about choosing between success and fatherhood it’s about integrating both with intention. A unified message of purpose and presence may not be as “profitable” as a divisive narrative, but it’s what truly creates lasting impact. Time to rewrite the playbook.
Absolutely love this! Also, resonates with the idea that our legacy isn't just successes we accomplish throughout our careers. Our legacy is also how we show up for the kids who count on us to show them how to thrive!
Alexis Ohanian Sr. Strength in Numbers?!?! 😳 I’m pretty sure that was before the Jimmy Butler trade. I thought you were a Miami guy? So glad it wasn’t a Lebron James Heat jersey for real. Love the pod! Upcoming topic on an Ask Alexis short, what’s the Warriors connection?! Go Dubs!!
yeah the whole "successful, high value man" ideology is bull. A man serves and sacrifices for the ones he loves.

3dI couldn't agree more! As a working dad and husband, I’ve come to realize that true success is about balance—building a meaningful career while also being fully present for our families. The narrative that men have to choose one or the other is outdated and harmful. Fatherhood is one of the most rewarding aspects of my life. It has taught me skills like patience, empathy, and resilience—qualities that have made me a better professional. It's inspiring to see more conversations like this that challenge traditional ideas of masculinity and highlight the importance of showing up not just at work but also at home. Big kudos to you for starting #BusinessDad and fostering a community where working dads can celebrate their career achievements and their crucial role in their families. Together, we’re flipping the script and setting a new standard for what it means to be successful.
