The 1st version of the UrbanTwin tool is out.🍾 The “minimum viable product” of the #UrbanTwin tool was presented on July 2nd in Lucerne (CH). Described in a joint paper of #EPFL (DESL, IPESE and CSQI laboratories) and the Lausanne utility (Services Industriels de Lausanne - #SIL), this involves a decision-support framework for #sustainable_planning of the #urban energy system. Aligned with the UrbanTwin model architecture, the framework consists of a central database, multiple individual models that share the same boundary conditions, and a core multi-objective optimization tool. The framework's utility is showcased in the city of Lausanne for the deployment of heat pumps (#HP) and rooftop PV. As a decision-support tool, it does not provide one fixed solution, but it gives utilities the freedom to explore different scenarios and trade-offs between CAPEX and OPEX costs. 📝 New notes in my post: how to develop a digital twin ecosystem that enhances the overall effectiveness of each technology component.
