🧠 🧠🧠 Professor Ernst Wolvetang is renowned for his work with organoids: growing them, studying them, and finding new ways they can be used in science and medicine. But while much of this intricate work happens inside his lab, he always keeps sight of the real-world reasons for this research. It was fantastic to see Ernst celebrate his connection with the wonderful Tallulah Moon and Genetic Cures for Kids. By designing and growing tiny brains in a dish, Ernst and his team will hopefully find a treatment for rare hereditary disease SPG56 and, in the process, unlock therapies for a range of other neurological disorders. 📖 You can read all about the Wolvetang lab’s groundbreaking SPG56 project here: https://lnkd.in/gyX5j8XW 🗣️ And why not hear from the man himself, and what drives his passion for organoid science: https://lnkd.in/gSSXebUE
#ShimmeringMoonGala 🌙 ✨️ 🌙 ✨️ We’re still basking in the glow of Friday night's Shimmering Moon Gala: Charity Dinner & Live Auction, overwhelmed by the love and support from such an incredible crowd of supporters. The energy in the room was electric, fueled by our amazing entertainment lineup and the generosity of everyone who attended. Our MC Extraordinare Karni Liddell PLY captivated us with her humor, stoicism, and raw honesty, bringing us into the fold of what it’s really like to live with a rare disease and a disability. Her words connected us all, created a room full of 'head nodders' and fueled the evening with inspiration. Our guest speaker Professor Ernst Wolvetang from Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology AIBN shared the "magic" of science, gene therapy and the groundbreaking work Our Moon's Mission: Genetic Cures for Kids is creating for kids like Tallulah Moon. The evening flowed beautifully, thanks to the talents of our musicians; Aka SYREN MUSIC , Ampersand and Andy V —who kept the vibes alive all night long. Everything culminated in a truly unforgettable full moon night, raising an epic $85,000 to help cure SPG56 and make history by stopping this disease in its tracks. Here's a blink of our amazing night, beautifully captured by our photographer Remi from Mile Productions, proudly sponsored by Remi himself and the legends from Ultimate Shed Builders. A massive heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors and everyone who attended, suported... and nodded their heads 🌙 ✨️ 🙏 Together, we’re building #TallulahsArmy with love and strength. We salute you! 💛 #SMG2024 #OurMoonsMission #FundTheCure #CureSPG56 ##GeneticCuresForKids
We were honoured to have "Wolfie" lead the crowd through gene therapy 101 using minions, Ferraris and good humour to cover a very serious message about the potential of this incredible research. He's a force to be reckoned with.
