Our just published piece points to how to change homeowners minds regarding the switch to sustainable heating technologies.

As we celebrate Earth Day, we celebrate The University of Tampa’s commitment to conserving energy and resources throughout campus. One way the University does this is by implementing green building design in construction, operations and maintenance solutions. One of the more recent of all our LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) buildings is the Graduate and Health Studies building. Here are a few steps that The University of Tampa took with sustainability in mind: -Low flow water fixtures and water closets will save approximately 260,000 gallons per year over standard fixtures. -5% of electricity is offset by Photovoltaic array funded by Student Government senior gift. -Construction Waste Management program – over 75% of construction waste was diverted from landfill. Can you help build smarter buildings? 🏗️ Buildings are among the largest energy consumers in the modern world, making energy efficiency essential for a sustainable future. However, understanding and managing energy use information across diverse facilities is time-consuming and costly due to inconsistent data formats. To help resolve this, we're collaborating with UNSW on The Brick By Brick Challenge. Entrants from around the world are invited to automate data to create smarter and more energy-efficient buildings (and the chance to win up to $11,000). Excited to share some insights into our current work on sustainable energy solutions! 🌱 As part of the CATART Project, my colleague Ekaitz Valtierra Martínez and I are dedicated to advancing the field of photocatalytic materials. Our research focuses on two critical reactions: CO2 reduction and water splitting, to produce solar fuels. 🌞 My PhD thesis is centered on developing these sustainable materials, aiming to contribute to global sustainability efforts. By adhering to the principles of green chemistry, we hope to play a role in combating climate change and paving the way for the use of solar energy as a viable resource.
