Triller is courting creators through a new website, SaveMyTikToks.com, which offers to back up TikTok content and upload it to Triller. Users can connect their TikTok accounts, save their videos, and transition to Triller, though the process is more complex than advertised. While Triller hopes to gain ground, many creators are steering audiences to established platforms like Instagram or YouTube instead. Meanwhile, Triller faces challenges, including declining stock prices, legal troubles, and its recent hire of a former TikTok executive as CEO. The January 19 TikTok ban deadline approaches, but its future remains uncertain. https://lnkd.in/g7wNbfPZ #TikTok #Triller

🚨 TikTok Creators, This Is Your Wake-Up Call 🚨 Lately, we’ve been seeing TikTok creators urging their audiences to follow them on Instagram or YouTube “just in case.” Why? Because a potential TikTok ban threatens to erase years of their creativity overnight. At FanEase, we’ve been sounding the alarm on this for over a year: if you’re creating content on a platform you don’t own, YOU DON’T OWN YOUR CREATIVITY. Your hard work, your stories, and your connection with your audience are subject to algorithms and platforms you don’t control. With TikTok under scrutiny, it feels almost criminal that creators could lose their content, connections, and livelihood in the blink of an eye. But it doesn’t have to be this way. With FanEase: 🎥 You own your channel. 👥 You own your audience. 📊 You own your data. This means no algorithms dictating your story and no third parties or government actions erasing your platform. FanEase empowers creators to take control of their content and turn views into real ownership and opportunities. Stop letting others control your creativity. It’s time to prioritize yourself, your audience, and your future. Build your independence with FanEase—where you control the narrative. #FanEase #ContentCreators #OwnYourContent #DigitalOwnership #CreatorEconomy #TikTokBan #Innovation https://lnkd.in/ggDHsasc

My latest article for CNBC takes a look at Meta’s push to dominate short-form video by paying creators to promote Instagram on rival platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat. Meta is offering top creators up to $50,000 per month to lock in exclusivity on Instagram Reels for three months. These contracts also require creators to post about Instagram twice a month on competing apps and produce a steady stream of Reels and Stories. This move comes as TikTok’s legal uncertainty leaves creators and brands in a tough spot. With many campaigns paused or shifting, platforms like Instagram and YouTube are competing hard to attract creators and the audiences that follow them. The short-form video race is heating up, and creators are the deciding factor. https://lnkd.in/eTg63GkS

TikTok has officially gone dark across the United States, marking an unprecedented moment in social media history. The app, along with CapCut, its popular video editing software, has been disabled for American users, who are now greeted with a stark error message: “Our services are not available in your country or region. You can still go to Settings and Privacy to manage your account, security, or privacy settings.” TikTok’s shutdown sends shockwaves through the digital landscape, as it boasted 170 million users in the US alone. Its seamless content algorithm and vibrant creator community made it a must-have platform for both audiences and advertisers. The loss of CapCut, an essential tool for creators producing content beyond TikTok, further compounds the disruption. For advertisers, this means rethinking strategies. In 2024, TikTok generated an estimated US$12.34 billion in US ad revenue. With 50% to 70% of that revenue now up for grabs, platforms like Meta’s Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat are poised to step in. ⚡ Tongal co-founder and CEO James DeJulio speaks to Forbes contributor Adam Wescott about how the potential TikTok ban could impact brands and the growing creator economy. The situation should serve as a warning to brands to diversify their content creation model to avoid their fate being in the hands of legislators, DeJulio states. On Tongal, top brands including the LEGO Group, PayPal, and Hilton, alongside studios including NBCUniversal, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Entertainment, utilize the skills and ideas of 160,000 creators around the world to produce high-quality content for every platform and screen. “I think the true underlying issue, which is never going away, is that brands need more creative bandwidth to avoid the all-the-eggs-in-one-basket trap that they continually seem to step into as they chase shiny new objects,” DeJulio says. “In my opinion this keeps happening because brands are still overwhelmingly bound by the conventional AOR model or in-housing, which are both the antithesis to true internet scale. This leaves them forced to choose platforms when they shouldn't have to. “The right creator community based content model can give marketers the ability to cover more ground and meet their audience with quality everywhere they go (ie, way more places than TikTok).” ⚡ #tiktok #content #community
