In a recent interview, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made a striking prediction: AI agents will fundamentally transform and potentially "kill" traditional SaaS (Software as a Service) applications. Nadella believes that the core functions of many SaaS applications—essentially CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations on databases—will be taken over by AI agents. These agents will handle business logic and interact with multiple databases seamlessly, making traditional SaaS applications redundant. Nadella's vision underscores the potential for AI agents to reshape the SaaS landscape. However, it's important to acknowledge that this evolution will likely be gradual. Remember that many organizations are still in the early stages of their cloud adoption journeys, with many still running legacy applications on-premises. So, we may see below scenarios being played out in next few years. 1) AI-Powered SaaS: We are already witnessing the integration of AI capabilities within existing SaaS platforms. This includes features like intelligent automation, personalized recommendations, and predictive analytics, which enhance user experience and efficiency. 2) Emergence of AI-First Solutions: New SaaS applications might emerge that are built from the ground up with AI at their core. These applications can leverage advanced AI agents to deliver innovative and personalized services, potentially surpassing the capabilities of traditional SaaS offerings. 3) The Potential for New Models: Some organizations, specially the ones still on legacy apps, may eventually explore alternative approaches, potentially moving directly to AI agent-based solutions, bypassing traditional SaaS migrations altogether. The widespread adoption of AI agents will also present several challenges that need to be addressed for the vision to become reality: 1) Hallucination and Accuracy: AI agents can sometimes generate incorrect or misleading information, known as "hallucinations." Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of AI agents is crucial for their successful integration into business processes. 2) Ethical and Privacy Considerations: The use of AI agents raises important ethical and privacy concerns. 3) Transparency and Explainability: It's crucial to ensure that AI agent decision-making processes are transparent and explainable to users. 4) Data Privacy: Safeguarding user data and ensuring responsible data handling practices are paramount as AI agents increasingly interact with sensitive information. 5) Bias and Fairness: It's essential to mitigate biases in AI systems to ensure equitable outcomes for all users. #AI #AIAgent #AgenticAI

Super bullish view of AI agents by Satya Nadella recently at a BG2 podcast with Bill Gurley and Brad Gerstner, that SaaS business applications will be soon gone away and replaced by AI-agent-powered solutions. Quite interesting position given Microsoft's giant share of the SaaS market. I do like Satya's simplified and abstract view of SaaS applications as a combination of databases and business logic. At the same time, I also see 3 major challenges (some of them were called out as well) 1. Engineering - common connectors to allow AI agents to access and take actions without human intervention. Today a user can open and operate across multiple SaaS applications by different vendors once licenses are purchased. However, it's a totally different story for AI agents, which will take an industry-wide effort for enablement; 2. AI - although the recent GenAI advancement is super exciting, my conservative view of business AI intelligence is still quite limitedly impacted by these advancement, especially with domain expertise and accuracy. Considerable work is still needed to make AI agent smart enough. 3. People - the business adoption and integration is always non-trivial. Even till today, there's still a lot work to be done on the SaaS side. AI-agent integration will require the next level. Also, automation comes with higher risks and lower transparency. Both need robust process/solution in place and culture shift. I am actually quite excited about AI agents, and do believe this is coming strong. I also think we need to solve all 3 challenges together to be truly successful, that'll take dedication and commitment to see fruitful results. What do you think? AI Agents: Transforming SaaS or Just Hype? Since the interview with Bill Gurley and Brad Gerstner on the BG2 Pod, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s comments about AI agents revolutionizing SaaS have sparked intense debate within the tech community. He envisions a future where AI-first solutions streamline workflows—for example, a salesperson relying on AI to summarize meetings, draft emails, and update CRMs automatically. These bold predictions have drawn a range of reactions: • Sabeel Ahmed, Chief AI Product Developer at Skyward Blue, sees this as an opportunity: “Companies that start building AI-first solutions now will be ahead of the game when this shift really takes off.” • Maurizio Ceccacci, Associate Digital Coach for SMB, applauds the potential shift to an agent-centric model: “It’s a return to focusing on solving the problem rather than implementing complex technologies.” • On the flip side, Ivan Landabaso, JME Ventures Partner, questions Nadella’s timeframe, suggesting: “Moving business logic to the AI tier will be time-consuming and complex. Legacy systems will persist, and enterprise adoption may take years.” With opinions split, it’s clear that while AI opens doors to efficiency and personalization, it also introduces challenges, including integration complexity, ethical concerns, and the potential slow pace of enterprise adoption. Will AI agents redefine SaaS or face too many hurdles to deliver on their promise? What do you think?

With AI, SaaS is dead according to Satya Nadella The rise of AI agents is disrupting traditional SaaS models. 🎙️Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, highlights how business logic is moving to the AI layer: "The notion that business applications exist [...] will all collapse in the agent era because they are essentially crud databases with a bunch of business logic. The business logic is all going to these [AI] agents." 🔗 Those quotes are from an interview of Satya Nadella by Bill Gurley & Brad Gerstner, aka BG2 (starting 46:44): https://lnkd.in/eQuRsPSs I encourage you to watch this interview as it provides plenty of insights into Satya's mindset. For example, he discussed the reasons behind his investment in OpenAI. 💬 What do you think? Is this the end of SaaS as we know it? #Agents #AI #SaaS #Microsoft #OpenAI

Microsoft CEO says modern apps will go away. All in favor of AI agents delivering instant results. I recently came across this interesting video where CEO Satya Nadella talks about the future of SaaS and the modern applications we’ve used for years. He described modern UIs as “just a soft layer” over a database. Modern SaaS, focused on interface-database interactions like creating, reading, updating, and deleting, will be replaced by AI agents. AI agents will access data directly, predict needs, and deliver results instantly, eliminating the need for traditional UIs. They’ll automate tasks, provide real-time insights, and work seamlessly across devices, redefining productivity and simplifying technology. Why mess around with Excel formulas when you can just ask an agent for the graph you need? Final thought: Software companies will still be around, but their products will look completely different. The AI agents will be able to accomplish anything—you just tell them what to do. How do you see AI agents shaping your work and life? https://lnkd.in/eC2HBSr8

🔥 Is the SaaS Model as We Know It About to Collapse? 🚀 Satya Nadella just dropped a bombshell about the future of SaaS, and it’s hard not to sit up and listen. In a recent interview, the Microsoft CEO predicted that AI agents could fundamentally transform — or even replace — traditional SaaS applications. 🤯 Think about it: SaaS apps today are basically a mix of databases and business logic. But what if AI agents could manage that logic across multiple systems without needing separate backends? Would we even need the traditional app frameworks anymore? Nadella gave a glimpse of this future, citing how tools like Python embedded in Excel are already pushing the boundaries of what software can do. The takeaway? The lines between standalone apps, AI, and intelligent systems are blurring — fast. 👉 Do you agree with Nadella’s vision? • Will AI kill the SaaS model or evolve it into something better? • Are we ready for AI agents to take over entire workflows? • How will this reshape our roles as decision-makers, developers, and users? This is a huge moment for the tech ecosystem — and for anyone building, buying, or using SaaS. Let’s talk about it! Drop your thoughts below.👇 Let’s debate where this is headed and what it means for us all. #FutureOfWork #SaaS #AI #DigitalTransformation #SatyaNadella #Innovation Here’s the link to the full interview with Satya Nadella on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dMCnxufV

AI & SaaS: A Tale of Two Futures What if Excel and other SaaS apps don’t vanish but evolve, blending seamlessly with AI? In a recent Interview (https://reurl.cc/eGz06j), Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, suggests the “agent era” will replace traditional applications. That’s Nadella’s vision: AI as a co-star, enhancing our favorite tools—think Excel with Python instead of Excel replaced by something else. But here’s the twist: 🔸 I see AI’s disruptive power surpassing any need for standalone software. 🔸 Why open an app when a smart agent can directly pull, manipulate, and display data on demand? Nadella believes AI + SaaS = Harmony. He sees Copilot orchestrating tasks, quietly boosting productivity. Developers still matter, refining user experiences to work with AI rather than against it. I foresee a more dramatic shift. If AI can generate everything from sales forecasts to text summaries instantly, maybe the spreadsheets and CRMs we rely on will fade away. Where do you stand? 📌 Collaboration or Disruption? 📌 AI enhancing SaaS or AI replacing it? No matter which path emerges, one thing’s certain: AI is rewriting the rules—and the next chapter of SaaS will be far from business as usual. Your thoughts? Let’s discuss. #AI #SaaS #FutureOfWork #Microsoft

Satya Nadella recent statement on the Bg2 Pod Podcast that "SaaS is dead" has sparked a fascinating debate about the future of software. His perspective is clear: traditional SaaS, which has long been built around CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) systems with business logic layered on top, is being fundamentally disrupted by the rise of AI agents. In Nadella’s vision, the future belongs to AI-native architectures—intelligent agents that don’t just execute predefined workflows but dynamically interact with users and other systems through natural language. These agents are not confined to a single app or platform; they’re designed to work across multiple ecosystems, breaking down silos and delivering unprecedented levels of efficiency and insight. But does this mean SaaS is truly "dead"? Probably sooner than we expect. It’s evolving. The SaaS companies that thrive in this new era will be those that embrace AI at their core—not as a bolt-on feature but as the foundation of their product design. This shift demands rethinking everything from user experience to infrastructure. You might also want to check out the agentic AI platform visions of ServiceNow’s Bill McDermott and Salesforce’s Marc Benioff in this respect. For leaders in tech, this is a wake-up call. The age of static software is over. The question isn’t whether AI will reshape SaaS—it’s how quickly companies can adapt to this new reality. #saasisdead #ai #saas #agenticAI

AI Changing Software Development and the Future of SaaS Very interesting interview with Satya Nadella, Microsoft ‘s CEO, where he shares some very interesting thoughts. 👉🏻 link below - AI agents is evolving to take over routine tasks that backend developers typically handle, like managing data and server-side processes. - This doesn’t necessarily mean developers will lose their jobs but it will allow them focusing on more creative and complex work. - Satya suggests that SaaS (Software as a Service) will fundamentally change. Instead of standalone apps, we’ll see AI agents integrated into workflows, creating more personalized, dynamic experiences tailored to each user. AI will make software feel less like a tool and more like a collaborator. - AI becomes a powerful tool to support and amplify human capabilities, which is, humans and technology working together. #AI #Digitaltransformarion #Technology #Innovation #SaaS https://lnkd.in/eJRe7gFc

SaaS is dead ... AI agents are where the business logic will live. I was listening to this podcast (it is worth listening) ... where Satya is explaining how they (Microsoft) are planning to fight Christensen innovator's dilemma - probably the biggest fear the tech giant's management have today (also came up in the book about Nvidia as Jensen's biggest fear). Satya, after he has already done one MS transition from on-prem to cloud, is now being ready for a second one from Bizapp to AI agents. The idea that backend doesn't matter, that "the cage" will be "the canvas" will probably revolutionize the business as we know it. I started to study behavioral science as part of my sales and management approach improvement, but this holiday I invested some time into understanding how "transformers" work and their "query, key, value" model. Not to mention embedding, positional encoding and softmax. I started with 2017 document, when it all started (https://lnkd.in/e68dXint). And the formula that will maybe be part of the history once: Attention(Q, K, V ) = softmax(QKT/√ dk)V. I just started (a lot of things sounded (and still sound) like Klingon to me), but it is another exciting field for my personal development, so I am looking forward for the next learning lessons. If AI agents will be based on LLM and the winners will be people who will be able to use them in the most productive and innovative way, then investing in expanding our knowledge to understand behavior of "machines" can bring better yield as understanding "humans". Interesting times ahead. P.S. If you are a BizzApp seller or company working on it and you are not already deeply into LLM understanding, AI agent’s implementation, business use case scenarios exploration, you are already missing out. Probably the wave of change will decelerate a little since humans don't have the best track record in adoption, but AI full usage time will come, the promise of higher quality of life for majority of people that increased productivity supported by AI technology will bring is simply too big. https://lnkd.in/eKENx6UT
