In 2019, she furthered her expertise by earning a Master of Science degree from the The University of Edinburgh. As the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Teh stood resolute on the frontlines. An HPB surgeon by training and a warrior by spirit, her battlefield encompassed hospital wards and operating theaters. Her scalpel, emblematic of her prowess, was wielded with unwavering dedication to patient safety and a multidisciplinary approach to Cancer Care. In the midst of #global uncertainty, Dr. Teh embraced an ambitious path, delving into the complexities of Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors. She balanced this rigorous academic pursuit with her myriad professional roles: Chief of the HPB Unit, President of the Philippine Association of HPB Surgeons (PAHPBS), and mentor to countless budding surgeons. Amidst the pandemic, Dr. Teh played a pivotal role in crafting guidelines for the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS), PAHPBS, Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons (PALES, Inc) and the operating suites of Makati Medical Center (MMC) and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (#NKTI). Her leadership extended to local and international webinars, where she shared her insights and strategies in combating the crisis. Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Teh cherishes her role as a mother. Despite the maelstrom of responsibilities, she remains the unyielding anchor in her teenager’s life, providing stability amidst chaos and uncertainty. Over the past three years, Dr. Teh has performed an intricate ballet, seamlessly transitioning between roles as a #surgeon, #mentor, #leader, #advocate, #student, and #mother.
