𝐓𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐲- Imagine a machine filled with only green ballls- 🟢, this represents the old belief that all tumor cells in a cancer are the same at any given stage. If you take one ball from the machine, it accurately represents the entire collection. Now, imagine a different machine filled with a mix of colored balls 🔴 🔵 ⚫️ this represents what scientists now understand about tumors: they are made up of diverse cells with different characteristics. If you randomly take one ball from this machine, it may not fully represent the variety inside. Similarly, a biopsy takes only a small sample from a particular location of a tumor. If the tumor is diverse, with different mutant clones, the sample may not reflect all the different types of cancer cells present, potentially missing key information needed for treatment decisions. - Avishek Roy
