Thanks to the folks at Heatmap News for covering our Direct Air Capture project opening in The Dalles, Oregon. We are proud to be contributing to our national climate targets and also, to be the first DAC in Oregon. Stay tuned for more as we scale our ambitions. https://lnkd.in/g8g4n6_D

Three years ago, our co-founders Huade Tan and Nathan Silvernail asked if they could engineer a way to quickly and reliably draw carbon out of the atmosphere while, at the same time, creating a durable product that millions of customers would find useful. They believed the answer to this question was a resounding yes and Plantd was born. To read about our approach to Direct Air Capture, check out our new blog below. https://lnkd.in/dw-dAuAm #ClimateChange #CarbonRemoval #DirectAirCapture

https://lnkd.in/g-BEV7zr This is important news. Direct Air Capture plants are just one of several working methods for Climate Restoration. See the https://lnkd.in/grQsSUTn for the bigger picture of how we can restore our climate to pre-industrial revolution levels of CO 2 and methane. These are practical scientific, scalable and affordable methods available now.

Can we count on techniques to stop factories and power plants from emitting carbon dioxide? Is blocking some of the sun's energy using sulfate aerosols in the atmosphere a viable climate solution? We take a closer look at two climate fixes that sound like science fiction: solar geoengineering and carbon capture and storage. This Climate Action Day, we want to spotlight those engineering changes... And turning complex challenges into sustainable solutions. At Fluidit, we aim to equip utilities with advanced modeling tools to create smarter, greener, and more efficient energy systems. We understand the challenges engineers must overcome to manage resources and prepare for unexpected scenarios because we’ve been there ourselves. While much remains to be done to mitigate the impacts of climate change, we’re proud to support and contribute to global climate initiatives and wise energy management. One smart simulation at a time.

It was a real pleasure to attend and speak at Drax Energy Solutions Carbon Neutral Strategic Customer Lunch today. Loads of great talks and stimulating discussion. A few really interesting points i took away from presentations by Matt Williamson and Fe Bush: 🌲 Thinning supports a healthy and productive forest environment. A tree from a thinned forest could have almost twice the diameter of a tree that's from a forest that's never been thinned after 21 years. 💨 Carbon sequestered in geological formations becomes increasingly securely trapped over time. BEIS estimated for example sites suggest 99.9% of injected CO2 will remained trapped. 🎚There are a wide range of different Carbon offsets available, from avoided emissions to removals and long term storage. 🌍 Globally we are far behind the level of Carbon removals needed to support climate ambition. The IPCC estimates we need 328 million tonnes of removals by 2030, and there is less than half this capability in publicly announced projects.

I am vehemently against any aerosol-based geo-engineering experiments, because they are not near-term reversible. Space-based solar reflectors, however, are fully and easily reversible, the problem is governance - who would be accountable and responsible for managing such a platform, in an utterly transparent and neutral way? As a civilization, we don't have such an entity. It's about time we construct one. #geoengineering #climatecrisis #globalwarming https://lnkd.in/gKVrUS-M

Humans have contributed to global warming, but can we reverse it through geoengineering? As we face the challenges of climate change, the idea of artificially cooling the planet through innovative technologies is gaining traction. While the potential solutions are promising, the path forward requires careful consideration of risks, ethics, and global cooperation. Can we successfully engineer a cooler Earth, or should we focus more on reducing emissions and restoring natural ecosystems? The future of our planet may depend on a balance between technology and sustainability.
