Process reengineering
- Process maps are terrific, providing a great vehicle to better understand our processes and to sort through the details in search of opportunities for improvement. But sometimes it helps to take a more holistic view of the process. You can look at standardizing key processes across the organization. For example, allowing consistency of quality and output. You can look at technology to improve overall company performance, like implementing new software for major activities. Focusing on energy consumption or seeking suggestions from shop floor employees are also excellent holistic approaches to process improvement. But sometimes you should go beyond that.
