- [Voiceover] In the previous movie we took a look at what a documentary is and how it actually can be many different things. We saw that documentaries have been shaped by changes in technology allowing film-makers to abandon heavy equipment and become much more mobile and thereby more flexible and intimate with their documentary subjects. We also touched on many changes in cultural, social and political trends. Which certainly effected the ways in which film-makers were choosing to tell their stories. And we saw that the way that film-makers either interact or don't interact with their subjects can be drastically different. So obviously with so many different types of documentaries each containing their own strategies and philosophies the role and strategies of the documentary story-teller shifts and responds to various factors. So first, let's just start simple. Let's define the idea of a story. There are of course many possible definitions but let's go with this one. A narrative…
