On Mondays it's hard not to think about routines. #amiright? Routines, optimization, productivity: how can a eek a little more outta this week? And that oft-asked-question: "How do you do it?" I lean into something closer to the #5amclub recommendation that we strive for a 5 am wake up with: 20 minutes of exercise, 20 minutes of meditation and journaling, and 20 minutes of learning/reading -- before anything else. But I've learned, as with everything, you have to have your own formula -- but HAVING a formula is key. These days I'm a 5:30 slow coffee + "clean the work slate," dog walk, workout, protein shake (SHAKEOLOGY, AG1, always, like church ⛪ ) -- helps me know that i've got all the good stuff in and the fires put out to ease into our busy busy days building a new servicer for CMG Financial. Of course -- understanding others' formula is critical to understand the options you have for your own -- whilst my favorite writer's formula worked well for him (including "I numb my twanging intellect with several belts of Scotch and water ($5.00/fifth at the State Liquor store, the only liquor store in town. JPMorgan Chase is doubling down on an unexpected strategy: expanding its physical presence in underserved urban and rural markets. This isn't just about opening branches — it's about creating community hubs. Chase plans to establish over 100 new locations, including full-fledged "Community Center" branches offering financial education alongside traditional banking services. They're also hiring 75 additional community managers by 2030 to spearhead local outreach efforts. "This is not just 'do-gooding,' this is business," Jamie Dimon, Chase's CEO, told the Wall Street Journal. And he might be onto something. Early results from their Harlem flagship suggest this model can successfully attract new accounts and deposits. For Chase, it's a strategic play. It allows them to grow in ways regulators are likely to support, while tapping into underserved markets with significant potential. For community banks, it presents both a challenge and an opportunity to innovate in their approach to local banking. As Gina Bleedorn, CEO of Adrenaline, puts it: "What Chase is doing is what everyone should be doing, in a way. They need to be creating community-oriented centers that are focused on advice and building financial literacy."

The report “2024 Insights and Perspectives from Black Leaders in the Middle Market” is the first of its kind, examining in depth what it is like for Black-owned middle market businesses within the American economy. The report details four eye-opening key insights: · Diversity initiatives and programs are shifting away from Black-owned businesses. · Programs that contribute to the initial success of Black-owned businesses often end up limiting future growth. · Discrimination is a universal experience not likely to go away anytime soon, but it does not define Black business owners or their paths forward. · Maintaining a separate network and economy is viewed as key to generating opportunity and overcoming challenges. The report is brainchild of Moses Harris, something he poignantly articulates in the blog post I shared yesterday.
