In the digital era, resiliency, responsiveness, and value delivery are the keys to success. Achieving these outcomes is continuous, not transformative. Ya, I said it! Spinning up a change "initiative" with a future state will only get you so far. Most likely, the goalpost will have moved by the time the initiative is over. Instead, foster a culture of continuous improvement that is deeply ingrained in the company's DNA. It is not just an occasional initiative; it is simply what we do and who we are. Engage all levels of the organization, especially those doing the work, and encourage feedback. It is a valuable tool for identifying frictions that impede productivity and value delivery. This is a topic that has been going around since the Innovator's Dilemma by Clayton Christensen - and a lot of great minds put their brains to work in this. Although the article touches many of the accepted lore on innovation in big corporations (purpose, policies, resources) it actually introduces another angle: democratizing data.
