As I reflect on 2024, I’m reminded of the incredible journey this year has been. From crafting seamless designs to mentoring aspiring UX designers, it’s been a year of growth, connection, and impact. Like jollof rice or like suya?, well yes oo I can make it pop😌” 🔼 The Battle of Fonts: Trying to choose the perfect font is like trying to pick an outfit for an owambe. Serif or sans-serif? Why are there so many options?! 🥹, I literally spend hours looking for the right font for a project 😂 🔼 Balancing Unemployed Life and Job Search: Juggling between perfecting your portfolio and endless job applications can feel like running a marathon. But we keep pushing! 🔼 The Internet Connection Struggle: Trying to upload a large design file with a slow internet connection can test your patience. Journey to Becoming a Product Designer!🚀 As it is said, journey of a thousand miles begins with a step😊 Today, I dove into the world of wireframing and created my first low-fidelity wireframe! 🎨💻 So, what exactly is a wireframe?🤔 Imagine you're building a house. Before you start laying bricks, you need a blueprint. A wireframe is just like that, but for websites and apps. It's a simple, visual guide that outlines the structure and layout of a page. No colors, no images, just the skeleton. Why is this so important? Wireframes help us see the bigger picture. They allow designers to: -Plan the layout: Ensuring all elements fit well together. - Focus on functionality: Prioritizing usability over aesthetics. - Save time and resources: Catching potential issues early on. How did I create mine? 📝 1. Identify the goal: I started by understanding what the website needs to achieve. 2. Sketch ideas: I drew basic sketches on paper, playing around with different layouts. I sketched up to 3 layouts before I came up with this one 😌 Creating this wireframe was an eye-opening experience! Amidst the whirlwind of daily life, they relied heavily on a family schedule management app called "FamilySync" to keep everything organized. FamilySync was their lifeline, their beacon of order in the storm of their busy lives. It allowed each family member to input their schedules, appointments, and to-dos, ensuring everyone stayed on the same page. One sunny morning, as the Smith family sat down for breakfast, disaster struck. Sarah, the eldest daughter, attempted to log into the FamilySync app to check her schedule for the day, only to find herself locked out. Panic ensued as they realized they couldn't access their meticulously planned schedules. Dad tried his password with no luck, while Mom attempted various combinations she thought might work. Sarah's little brother even attempted to guess the password, but all efforts proved futile. It seemed as though their digital lifeline had been severed. Frantically searching for a solution, they remembered the password recovery page that FamilySync provided. With a glimmer of hope, they navigated to the page and began the process of resetting their password. Every great product begins with a blueprint. Before I create a single screen, I ask myself: What’s the goal? Who will use this? How will it solve their problem? This same approach works for life. Intentional planning is like designing the roadmap for your future—you’re building the foundation for what’s to come. Here’s how I’m preparing for success in 2025: 1️⃣ Define Your Goals Every product has a purpose, and so should your plans. What does success look like for you? Whether it’s landing a dream project, mastering a new skill, or stepping into a leadership role—be specific. Write it down. 2️⃣ Break It Down Big goals can feel intimidating. As a designer, I break projects into smaller, manageable tasks. Do the same for your plans. Create milestones and celebrate small wins along the way. 3️⃣ Embrace Feedback and Iterate No product is perfect on the first try, and neither are plans. I’ve learned the value of listening to users—and in life, that’s your mentors, peers, and even your past self.
