This is a powerful video. As I write my capstone on destructive leadership and coping strategies to combat its impact and I think about what future research needs to be done and can think of a list of topics stemming from this. Let me ask a general question—when someone feels bullied at work and nobody with the power to do something about it believes them, what is the person who feels bullied supposed to do? How are they supposed to cope? Not only have they likely exhausted all options aside from leaving (which isn’t easy for a multitude of reasons), but now it’s likely the person or people doing the bullying are aware that this person reached out for help. That leaves room for retaliation, and if they are already getting away with bullying then they will know how to get away with retaliation. Destructive/bullying leaders are great at manipulating, gaslighting, pitting people against each other, etc.
