For those tax practitioners who are CPAs there has always been an unfair playing field on CPAs advertising, versus tax professionals in general. Tax professionals are unrestricted, able to make claims, as we can get you the highest refunds, at a minimum. But CPAs cannot make such claims. It appears that the AICPA and NATP have woken up and hopefully will address the disparity. There has been a lot of news surrounding private equity in the accounting industry over the last few years. Today I went to update our firm's information in the AICPA's PRIMA system and noticed a couple of new questions since my last visit now need to be answered: - Has your firm or a related entity undergone an outside investment by a private equity, wealth management, or similar type firm? - Does your firm have an alternative practice structure such as those created through an outside investment? I'm not sure when these were added, but I like that they have been and being able to answer 'No'. #cpa #smallfirm #peerreview
