Stakeholders are convinced AI can replace human intuition. How will you navigate their high expectations?
I’m not sure I fully conveyed my point in the previous post. What I intended was more quantitative than qualitative. For instance, in mathematics, conjectures are foundational because they inspire new research. Imagine if AI could take over the laborious aspects of proof—like assembling relevant lemmas—freeing us from the nitty-gritty details. This shift would let us focus more on crafting the overarching strategy of a proof rather than getting bogged down in each step. Now generalize this. Let’s also keep in mind that AI will likely enhance the level of complexity we can handle, suggesting additional questions that might be harder to spot otherwise.

Stakeholders are convinced AI can replace human intuition. How will you navigate their high expectations?
Philosophers have long explored the division between conceiving ideas and implementing them. With AI, this boundary blurs further. Machines now take on the “intellectual labor” of gathering, organizing, and processing information, allowing us to shift focus. Rather than being consumed by data, we can frame questions and pursue creative insights. This redefinition not only expands our capabilities but also amplifies our uniquely human strengths—curiosity, intuition, and the drive to explore meaning. Just as we rely on machines to lift heavy loads, AI now offers us a similar opportunity for intellectual labor, enabling us to focus on the fundamental act of asking the right questions while it handles the data-driven “heavy lifting.”
