In a few short months, the decisions and actions made by the next administration will have generational implications–not for just two or four years, but for decades to come. We must summon the courage to dream bigger to create a generational vision of collective care and belonging that will also have profound, far-reaching impact. We need a vision for the next 25 years—not just a reactionary response. This moment calls for shared imagination, focus, and heart that cuts across traditional silos and ecosystems of social impact, such as philanthropy, nonprofits, social enterprise, policy advocacy, movement spaces, interfaith-based initiatives, etc. It asks us to hold space for the hardest questions, curiosity, introspection—not to rush for answers, but to sit with the humility of not having them all. We must pause, listen deeply, and tend to the soil so we can grow something radically different. This is also a time for moral clarity and creativity—a bias towards action that is anchored in love and fueled by the anticipation of what our collective strength can produce. Although money alone cannot be our guide, philanthropy must show up to engage in longterm, flexible, experimental resourcing and with a learning orientation. Finally, we must continue to invest boldly in the most historically under-resourced leaders and organizations who are most proximate to the challenges and opportunities of this moment—the true architects of change. At the LeadersTrust, we are committed to this challenge of radically reimagining and building a different path forward with you. We know that this time, it must be collective. *an addition I would make: actively challenge the systems you have power or influence over that create stress to them. Have a report deadline you created? Be flexible with it. Ask your own team if the data you’re collecting can be reduced or eliminated to decrease workload on NP partners. Ask your grantees how you can be supportive to them, because while I have a compliance responsibility to my upstream funder, I have a personal and professional commitment to and investment in the spirit of the work my grantees put forward. Its my job to reduce their stress and barriers so they can do the work to the best of their ability. Period. If I’m stressing them out as a funder, I’m doing something wrong.

Based on my experience, here are five key aspects to focus on when developing impactful nonprofit programming: 🧠Needs Assessment: Understand the community's needs and identify gaps in services. 🤝🏿Collaboration: Foster partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and stakeholders. 💡Cultural Competence: Develop programs that are sensitive to the community's diverse backgrounds, values, and beliefs. 💪🏿Sustainability: Design programs that are financially viable, scalable, and have a lasting impact. 🤔Evaluation: Regularly assess program effectiveness, gather feedback, and make data-driven improvements. Who will be the superpowers of philanthropy in the next 25 years? Who will have the capacity and resources to influence social, economic, and political arenas? The answer is women. Historically, women have always played crucial roles in philanthropy. Early social service work was seen as “women’s work.” Female philanthropy started with parochial institutions, where nuns, deaconesses, and women of all faiths offered comfort to the marginalized in their communities. Now, with women holding more than half of private wealth in the U.S. and the capacity to influence global change, their impact is poised to grow exponentially. Despite progress, support for women's and girls' organizations remains low, receiving just 1.8% of charitable giving. However, women are stepping up to fill this gap, often giving broadly, holistically, and collectively. They focus on aligning their passion with their resources, working collaboratively, and demanding transparency about the impact of their contributions. Women’s philanthropy offers vast opportunities: from supporting traditional nonprofits to becoming angel investors and engaging in impact investing. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy talks about the need for a "whole-of-society approach" to advancing social connection. We've tried to heed that call in our work at Einhorn Collaborative, supporting a broader range of efforts that engage actors across sectors. That includes: Projects like Team Up to enlist large national civic organizations with a presence in local communities to help people build connection across difference through service. Research groups like Building H to measure the impact of products on consumers’ health and urge companies to do better to improve social connection and other health outcomes. Initiatives like Human Connections AI to bring together social connection experts with technologists to puzzle through how AI companions can be designed to enhance and not degrade human relationships. Another project that has helped us explore a facet of the whole-of-society approach is the Connective Tissue Framework, which puts forward a range of recommendations for how government – especially at the local level – can create the structural conditions and everyday opportunities for people to experience healthy connection. I've learned a lot from Sam Pressler, lead author of Connective Tissue.
