The Department of Defense (DoD) is proposing changes to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) to implement updates from the National Defense Authorization Acts (NDAAs) for FY 2018, 2021, and 2022. These changes aim to refine requirements for contractors to submit cost or pricing data. Key updates include: 1. Higher Threshold for Certified Cost or Pricing Data: The threshold is raised to $2 million, reducing paperwork for smaller contracts while maintaining certification requirements for larger ones. 2. New Requirements for Non-Certified Data: Contracting officers can request "data other than certified cost or pricing data" to verify price reasonableness, making organized and transparent pricing documentation essential. 3. Application to Commercial Products and Services: The rules now apply to commercial items, including off-the-shelf products and services, requiring the same data submissions as traditional contracts. 4. Stronger Focus on Fair Pricing: Contracting officers have increased authority to scrutinize pricing data, even when certified data isn’t mandatory, emphasizing the need for clear, well-documented pricing justifications. The public comment period for this proposed rule ends on November 25, 2024, with comments accepted at Regulations.gov.

The US #Navy just issued an article detailing the success of their #ZeroTrust implementation for Flank Speed. The top line is that the #security environment they’ve developed achieved 100% (91 of 91) of the Zero Trust Target level activities and nearly 100% (60 of 61) of the Advanced ZT level activities outlined in the Department of Defense’s Zero Trust strategy. As a result, the US Navy is well ahead of the Department’s 2027 goal for implementing Zero Trust at a Target activity level within their systems.   Our team is honored to support the Navy's deployment and configuration of Microsoft security solutions for Flank Speed and help DoN achieve this historic milestone. "The purpose of the APFIT pilot program is to expeditiously transition technologies into production, and to accelerate the fielding of needed technologies to the warfighter, with priority given to technologies developed by small businesses and nontraditional defense contractors. The benefits of this pilot program will be to deliver war-winning capability earlier than scheduled, while contributing to the viability of small business and nontraditional defense contractor vendors. APFIT is an additional tool the DoD can use to propel innovative capabilities across the "Valley of Death" and accelerate fielding into the hands of warfighters."
