I wrapped up Q3 at 107% of my quarterly quota 😁 , but like clockwork, I’m back to square one. There’s nothing quite like the first day of a new quarter to bring you back down to Earth—Salesforce leaderboard wiped clean, and now it’s anyone’s game. And yes, on October 1st, he asked me what day it was... I said, "It’s Q4." (Mean Girls fans, you know what I’m talking about). Welcome to Q4—the fastest, most unpredictable, and arguably the most critical quarter of the year. As I dive into it, here are a few key lessons from my Q3 success: Patience is key. Your customer will always notice if you’re pushing to close for your own gain. Let the process breathe. Relationships sell. No product is flawless, but a strong customer connection can make it seem that way. When they trust you, the product practically sells itself. Deadlines matter. Nail down a specific signing date. Forget the vague “EOM” talk—pick a date and stick to it. No moving goalposts!! Meticulous follow-up: Promptly send follow-up emails, deliver on promised resources, and ensure no customer is left waiting in an unresolved email chain. Stay adaptable. Q4 moves fast, and so should you. Be ready to pivot when the unexpected happens—flexibility can make the difference between closing the deal or losing it.

Sales Interview Pro Tip: It's the little things that matter. Those little things add up over time. Good and bad (ask me how I know)... Little things you should do if you want an interview/job: - Reach out before interviews with a quick message to say you're excited to learn more about the role - Connect on LinkedIn (if you haven't already) - Send thank you and follow up notes within 24 hours And here's a new one... - Accept the calendar invite if you're sent one What % of candidates do you think I talk to that don't do any of the above? The number would astonish you. And that's not to say that every candidate who doesn't follow up is bad. But it's not a great look. Treat interviewing like a sales cycle. When I left my cushy TA role in SaaS for mat leave back in 2022 I walked away with confidence. I had made five offers in the last six weeks and was feeling accomplished and was standing in my power. Loved the new role I was in, loved my team, loved the work and was excited to welcome my son and come back to my career and keep growing. While on leave, the market started shifting, layoffs were making headlines, people started to wring their hands and worry. I came back to a different team; we were all concerned about our stability. Eventually the layoff occurred. I lost my job. I panicked for awhile. I worked my network. I got very little traction and I decided to open my own company. I did some consulting and made it work. Then I found a great contract and rode that wave. I am again facing a job search and weighing the pros and cons of applying or leaning back into my own business in a market that continues to see HR and TA as expendable. I see articles that show how good the economy is, while fear bubbles in my own body around what that says about me and my recent struggle in this market. If its so good, why am I here. Since giving birth, my career that I had been so proud of and worked so hard for has taken a beating and its felt like the earth below my feet has shifted a thousand times. I have been agile. I have shifted focus. I have fought to stay positive and shift perspective and be thankful. I've done all of this while raising a fierce, active, independent son, hoping that I am not only able to provide for him but that I am setting an example of resilience and strength. I am not telling a new story here. I have so many friends in this same hamster wheel of knowing we are valuable and then second guessing it because this market will eat you up and spit you out. Tomorrow I will be back here with job search tips, a witty observation or two and a more positive perspective but today I am asking that if you know someone in a job search in this market, dont comment for reach; make an intro. This stuff is tough.

😧 The average turnover rate of sales reps is a whopping 35%. The cost of replacing an employee ranges from half to 2x their salary. But the cost of sales rep turnover isn’t just about numbers — it’s deeply personal. Every unanswered email or unreturned call feels like rejection, and over time, it can take a psychological toll.
