Make up for the price difference in HK crypto ETF Subscription If you want to purchase an ETF with cash, you need to determine the desired quantity of shares beforehand. Generally, the cutoff time for submitting purchase orders is around 11 a.m. After the cutoff time, the fund company will proceed with the purchase. An interesting aspect is that the price at the time of purchase may differ from the price at the time of order placement. If the purchase price is higher than the order price, the fund company will ask the client to make up for the price difference in order to acquire the corresponding quantity of shares

A FT article has been trending about the Singapore stock market. This quote is exciting! "Another person quoted by the FT had “not seen an all-government and industry approach like this since Singapore first decided it wanted to foster a tech and venture capital industry in the late 2000s”. As investors in the private (primary) market, we would very much welcome a stronger and more vibrant Singapore equity market. Singapore and South East Asia has a robust VC (primary) market but the missing piece to complete the whole eco system is the ability for a robust equity (secondary) market. On a personal level, as a Singaporean who bought my first shares in my life in 1999 (Singtel!) and who has seen the local market struggle and fizzle off for the last decade, I really welcome a more active market. Yesterday in parliament, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Lawrence Wong was actually posed a very similar question about the local stock market. (the link is here to the article) https://lnkd.in/dGEtARw8 *While the government will continue to encourage companies incubated here to list on the SGX, Wong noted that GIC and Temasek “operate on a commercial basis and have a mandate to deliver good long-term returns for the benefit of Singapore and Singaporeans”. “They regularly engage their portfolio companies on options to create shareholder value, which may include a listing in Singapore,” he added. “However, the final listing decisions will have to be made by the companies themselves, based on their commercial objectives and growth plans.”* My take is that: Having a local stock exchange, local stocks that list on your local stock exchange as well as local investors are not mutually exclusive in this day and age. Shared my views with ChinaDaily.com.cn on Hong Kong’s SME lending landscape. “We believe the key to plugging Hong Kong’s stubborn SME credit gap lies in algorithm-based lending by utilizing alternative data to develop customized SME credit scoring models that can prequalify loans,” says Benjamin Quinlan, CEO and managing partner of Quinlan & Associates. “This approach not only helps to address previously underserved customer segments, but also streamlines the current SME lending journey.” According to the business advisory firm, Hong Kong’s current addressable SME credit gap stands at HK$170 billion. As the economy slows down, leading to a poor lending appetite among banks, coupled with the fact that more businesses still need funding, the firm expects the funding gap to widen to HK$200 billion by the end of this year. Quinlan says the footprint data relating to the entire value chain of SMEs, such as business orders, purchases, payrolls, sales receipts, accounting software, trade receipts, customs data, e-commerce data, and even geolocation data of business venues, can be used to assess SMEs’ profits and losses, and then to evaluate how creditworthy the SMEs are. Lending based on real-time financial information can decouple the need for collateral in loan applications. “These are useful in determining the real-time financial health of a company, and it is very important to ensure that the agenda of financial inclusion is taken into consideration,” Quinlan says. According to Quinlan, the future paradigm in SME lending is an automatic credit model, and integrating data and checking credit-scoring algorithm will be the two most important elements. He emphasizes that lenders, small businesses and the government have a role in cementing this pattern shift in SME lending, adding that “banks have to develop more digital banking services, infrastructures and credit scoring capabilities. The government must be able to push the agenda in terms of regulation, while SMEs need to make digital investments”. Quinlan says, “Even though the CDI has created a data repository that can be used to evaluate the creditworthiness of businesses, the administration still needs to connect the data effectively with other financial institutions. Thank you #bloomberg for an opportunity to discuss our investment philosophy at 3Capital in the #bloombergwealthforum today. 1) We are still in the beginning of the new wave, we will focus on the picks and shovels, hence, AI Infrastructure for now. 2) Unlike mobile internet era, the technical moat to understand and discern AI companies are high, AI veterans enjoy unfair advantage as investors. 3) We are seeing disruptors on hardware side already. The average GPU is running at 50% efficiency, we need new inferencing solution and/or better chip design that tailors to model training and edge inferencing. We invested in Cerebras Systems for precisely this reason. 4) Most radical applications likely to be medical and education. AI being a great equalizer, both segment share great inequalities for now, hence significant market potential. 5) Both US and China will remain AI super power and companies will thrive in their respective unique ecosystem. 6) Eventually, the most important programming language will be English, and the marginal cost of intelligence will be zero, leading to a significant bigger overall AI led market opportunity than we currently define. Marking our unlisted portfolio to market would provide S$31 billion of value uplift and bring our Mark to Market (MTM) NPV to S$420 billion, up S$9 billion from last year’s MTM NPV. The increase was mainly due to our investment returns from the US and India, offset by the underperformance of China’s capital markets. Our unlisted portfolio has grown steadily from 20% in 2004 to 52% as at 31 March 2024. With this increase in exposure, reporting our unlisted assets at mark to market value would be more in line with our peers. Hence, we have aligned our approach this year to market practice, and have presented the MTM NPV for FY22 and FY23 on a similar basis for consistency.  Our 20-year and 10-year Total Shareholder Return (TSR) remained stable at 7% and 6%, respectively. Metrics such as our NPV and longer-term 20-year and 10-year TSRs are more indicative of our performance, and are aligned with Temasek’s mandate to generate sustainable returns over the long term. Longer-term TSRs are dependent on the starting year and ending year. Our 20-year TSR this year excludes our post-SARS recovery of 2004, which explains the drop in our 20-year TSR from 9% last year to 7% this year. One-year TSR was 1.60%.”  Temasek
