It has continuously pushed the boundaries on what's possible with new features and functions being introduced at an exponential pace. 📊 Eclipse Foundation Study: "2023 IoT & Edge Commercial Adoption Survey Report". Subtheme was connectivity. Quote out of the study: "Connectivity is the Top Priority in IoT Deployment. 48% of organizations consider connectivity a crucial design consideration, closely followed by data security (29%). This underscores the pivotal role of connectivity in shaping design strategies, along with concerns that 5G may not yet meet all expectations." 🌐 There isn't just one #5G, but many. The overarching term is 5G New Radio or 5G NR, which is divided into: - Massive #IoT 5G NR: Enables connecting a huge number of low-power devices to the network, such as sensors, wearables, and smart cities. - Enhanced Mobile Broadband (#eMBB): Provides high speeds and capacity for data-intensive applications, like video streaming and augmented reality. - Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communication (URLLC): Ensures extreme reliability and low latency for critical applications, such as emergency communication and autonomous surgery. 📶 The transition from 4G to 5G NR is progressing incrementally. In EU , private 5G NR operates from 3600 to 3800 MHz. #NBIoT and #LTEM have been integrated into Massive IoT 5G NR. However, this affordable low-power technology has only been specified up to 2200 MHz, leaving no affordable cellular sLPWAN for 5G NR in private 5G networks. 🛰️ The solution lies with #Mioty. Mioty, like 5G NR, is software-defined radio and is mostly used in the license-free band 868 MHz. 433 MHz or 169 MHz are possible. 868 MHz is preferable because there are already combo #antennas for 5G NR for low band / mid band. 🔍 Last week was the Hannover Messe Industrie (#HMI) in Hannover. #Mioty, #LoRaWAN, and 5G companies were in the same hall. I visited some 5G companies and questioned the possibility of Mioty in the 5G base station. With a splitter and Mioty Gateway, it's immediately possible without software changes. 🌍 Participants in the #Eclipse Foundation study are disappointed with 5G. I can understand them. I'm also disappointed. The #3GPP has overlooked Europe in specifying NB-IoT, LTE-M, and 5G NR. Perhaps there were too few Europeans on the team, or there was a lack of expertise or understanding of customer needs. Genuine Global NB-IoT and LTE-M are only available from very few companies. The companies I visited at the HMI offer only Single IMSI SIM cards. Single IMSI cards don't work, which is why Crout offers multi IMSI SIM cards for global rollout. Companies using single IMSI are then among those disappointed with 5G. Connectivity with #Crout: - Multi IMSI SIM card - #Mioty and #NeoMesh - LoRaWAN server with our new colleges at #Melita 💼 How do we now improve the satisfaction of potential customers? Certainly not with single IMSI and no LPWAN with private 5G NR. 3GPP, think about it or bring in external consultants! This is a major announcement for T-Mobile, as it indicates its progressing to become the primary all-mode #communications supplier for both #consumers and #business users. Adding the Lumos Fiber assets for #Fiber #broadband connectivity enables T-Mobile and especially T-Mobile For Business to become a bundled provider of #mobile, #FWA over #5G, and #fiber #internet and #communications services. And while the acquired fiber assets are currently regional and in a relatively limited area, there is no doubt T-Mobile plans to invest to greatly expand the fiber infrastructure. Given T-Mobile's aggressive pricing and marketing, this a warning to Verizon and AT&T that T-Mobile is coming for their customers. #Uncarrier

Some big announcements this week related to the use of #AI in Telco Mobile Networks. Timing couldn't be better as Spectrum Effect was just this week awarded the patent for the use of AI and Machine Learning Models for classifying interference types in Mobile Operator RAN networks. I have strong conviction on AI's ability to drive more efficient and effective operations of mobility networks and ultimately better outcomes for consumers of the services that mobile networks enable. With 6G around the corner, 6G and 6GHz spectrum can be confusing !

One of most under looked component in network is antenna. Operators are purely looking commercials. Although its a passive item, but choosing a right antenna is important. Money saved on a wrong or low quality antenna is much much lower than money spent over the years to better the customer experience.

It's devastating to see the damage caused by the California wildfires. T-Mobile is doing everything we can to help affected communities and first responders stay connected. Here are a few updates:  🔘 T-Mobile and Starlink opened up our T-Mobile Starlink Direct-to-Cellular service in impacted areas, delivering wireless emergency alerts, SMS, and enabling 911 texting, even without commercial power.  🔘 We’ve restored over half of the sites affected by power loss and are working to support the rest with portable generators.  🔘 We are collaborating with federal, state, and local officials to ensure critical connectivity, including deploying Wi-Fi routers at key locations.  Additional details on community support can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gnpXud6B
