This is a major announcement for T-Mobile, as it indicates its progressing to become the primary all-mode #communications supplier for both #consumers and #business users. Adding the Lumos Fiber assets for #Fiber #broadband connectivity enables T-Mobile and especially T-Mobile For Business to become a bundled provider of #mobile, #FWA over #5G, and #fiber #internet and #communications services. And while the acquired fiber assets are currently regional and in a relatively limited area, there is no doubt T-Mobile plans to invest to greatly expand the fiber infrastructure. Given T-Mobile's aggressive pricing and marketing, this a warning to Verizon and AT&T that T-Mobile is coming for their customers. #Uncarrier

It's devastating to see the damage caused by the California wildfires. T-Mobile is doing everything we can to help affected communities and first responders stay connected. Here are a few updates:  🔘 T-Mobile and Starlink opened up our T-Mobile Starlink Direct-to-Cellular service in impacted areas, delivering wireless emergency alerts, SMS, and enabling 911 texting, even without commercial power.  🔘 We’ve restored over half of the sites affected by power loss and are working to support the rest with portable generators.  🔘 We are collaborating with federal, state, and local officials to ensure critical connectivity, including deploying Wi-Fi routers at key locations.  Additional details on community support can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gnpXud6B

I'll be attending Fiber Broadband Association #FiberConnect24 #FB24 in Nashville between 28-30th July. The FCC’s approval of Starlink’s direct-to-cell service with T-Mobile is significant. This partnership aims to provide cellular coverage in areas where traditional networks don’t reach, addressing long-standing issues with dead zones. It also strengthens emergency communication capabilities and improves network reliability, particularly in rural and remote locations. However, could this partnership potentially cannibalize some of Starlink’s revenue? Kathleen and I are both T-Mobile and Starlink customers. We are a “work from anywhere” couple and we use Starlink at our cabin in a remote part of Alaska because T-Mobile service doesn’t work there. With this new partnership, we might find we no longer need Starlink. The same could be true for boats, RVs, and other remote homes that currently rely on Starlink due to lack of coverage from traditional networks. 10 Broadband Predictions for 2025 1. For the 3rd year in a row, licensed FWA will account for nearly 100% of all net new broadband subscriber growth in the U.S. 2. The big cable operators will continue to shed customers. 3. Fiber: passings will grow massively, but subscriber growth will be anemic (as a percentage of new passings). 4. Internet traffic growth will continue to decelerate for the 5th consecutive year. 5. The average household will consume around 7-10 Mbps while active. 6. Household data usage will increase by around 9-10%, or around +45 GB of data per month on average (down from 30% yearly growth in 2020 and previous years). 7. Speed plans above 100 Mbps will be mostly idle (no discernible increase in monthly data usage). 8. The ratio of download to upload traffic will remain heavily asymmetrical at a ratio of ~12:1. 9. STARLINK and T-Mobile will post the largest gains. 10. AI and quantum computing will lead to dramatic increases in wireless capacity and efficiency, setting up another blockbuster year for FWA in 2026. #newyear #broadband #predictions
