Great article from Sara Baldwin. Power Demand Reduction (DR) on the consumer side is a critical component to balancing our growing grid power needs. But we must go beyond traditional DR that curtails power and give the customers a means to reduce their own peak power behind-the-meter. Affordable, high-power energy storage is the key.

It is always great sharing how PG&E is using #microgrids to help meet our #safety and #sustainability goals. PG&E’s comprehensive microgrid solutions include our Community Microgrid Enablement Program and Microgrid incentive Program, which are both intended to support deploying community-proposed, multi-customer microgrids; and our remote grid program, which is intended to reduce fire risk by removing overhead power lines and replacing with a standalone power system.   PG&E now has 10 remote grids in operation, with two more scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2024 (and 11 more in development) that together will replace ~28.5 miles of overhead lines and help to reduce wildfires in areas where the risk is highest.   We’re committed and focused on delivering safe and reliable energy to customers in our hometowns, and microgrids are one of the ways we are doing so.   Learn more about our progress deploying microgrids in this Trellis Group article by Heather Clancy: https://lnkd.in/gFaiJgcm And learn more about PG&E’s microgrid solutions: www.pge.com/microgrids
