Unfortunately in some states, too many well-meaning policymakers are missing the facts. This is a vital federal program that Congress needs to fix. Large hospitals are buying deeply discounted 340B medicines and then turning around and charging both uninsured patients and insurance companies higher prices, pocketing the difference with little to no evidence they use that money to help patients the program is meant to aid. How many people are aware that many 340B hospitals are contracting with pharmacies owned by pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to dispense 340B medicines? How many know that these chain pharmacies can share in 340B revenues with no strings attached? This includes charging an uninsured individual the full cost of the medicine. Just another way a broken system is helping PBMs to profit off the backs of patients. It’s no wonder Congress, the FTC and others have them under the microscope.

This is a huge win from Bristol Myers Squibb for adult #cancer #patients with solid tumor indications. Launching early 2025 is a new injectable form of #opdivo, and it will be more convenient for #patients vs hours-long IV infusions. As it relates to adults with #cancer needing infusions, balancing treatment with a job is a significant challenge, requiring supportive employers, understanding colleagues, and legal and financial safeguards to help #patients maintain their livelihoods while focusing on their health. Here are just some of the challenges: Disruption of Work Schedule: 1. #Cancer #patients often need to schedule #infusions multiple times a week or month, requiring time off work for hours-long appointments. 2. Side effects, such as #fatigue, #nausea, or cognitive difficulties, make it difficult to return to work immediately after treatment. 3. #Infusions may need to be rescheduled or extended based on health conditions, complicating patients’ ability to plan their work schedules. Physical and Emotional Fatigue: 1. #Chemotherapy causes debilitating side effects, including #fatigue, #nausea, and "chemo brain,", reducing productivity and focus at work. 2. On days without #infusions, #chronic #fatigue and weakness make full-time work difficult. Financial Stress: 1.
