Now that we have dropped nonrevenue incented/operation types, let's talk about increasing revenue. If you are selling 100% of your supply you are in a rare, probably non-optimized group. Most publisher do not and should not fill more than 75% of supply directly. Using the bottom 25% to leverage floors higher, increasing bids/ecpm. ROI allows publishers the opportunity to efficiently monetize 100% of their supply. Accomplishing this by selling unfilled outside of the direct adstack in a secondary auction or post-bid strategy. We will deliver real time market data on supply value, allowing publishers to understand supply value and flooring. When I took this CMO job at Consumer Reports (CR), a number of people reacted with surprise that I wasn’t going to another tech company after six years at Stack Overflow. The reality is every company is a tech company (or at least aspires to be), and the evolving tech at CR is one of the things that compelled me to join. As valuations surge the more a company mentions gen AI, more and more companies are creating products that will never achieve market fit — products that aren’t solving real problems. I’m bullish on the current startup ecosystem but for every diamond there are 20 duds. CR is not only working to inform people of what this frenetic moment in tech means for them (a surge in scams, increasing data breaches, etc.), we’re also harnessing gen AI to solve real problems for real people. What’s more annoying than the analysis paralysis that comes with a major (or minor) purchase decision? The Gumloop (YC W24) team launched a Chrome extension that lets you build your own AI chrome extension in minutes...without any code. Gumloop's chrome extension combines two powerful features: 1. A task automator that sends the content of your current tab into a Gumloop flow…even if you’re logged into an app or reading behind a paywall. 2. A web scraper agent + action recorder. This records your clicks, scrolls, form fills (etc) in your current browser tab and lets you replay those actions in any Gumloop Flow. The action recorder is like a browser automation script…except it doesn’t require a single line of code and takes <1 minute to create. Here's the first use cases I'm building out: Social media template creator + drafter. * Send a successful social media post into a Gumloop flow * Analyze the structure and create a reusable template * Draft 5 new posts for {social site} on {subject} with those templates * Put them the "awaiting review" kanban column in Notion. Instant Startup Website Analysis Find a new AI startup whose products might fit into an AI GTM system I'm building * Scrape the homepage, product pages, and most recent blog posts * Search Google News for recent articles about the company + its market niche * Find the founders' LinkedIn + recent social media posts * Write a detailed analysis SEO strategy analysis for top ranked pages If find a page post that ranks for a keyword I'm targeting, I click the chrome extension and send the page into a Gumloop flow I made to analyze SEO strategy: 2 minutes later, I'll get a detailed summary of: - targeted keywords and keyword clusters - internal linking strategy - Category of the SEO post type (how to guide, top XYZ list, thought leadership, etc) - Opportunities for backlinks in this publication (if any) Because it's integrated into Chrome and sends the full content of the page into Gumloop, you can also use it to: * Summarize research papers * Extract data from internal dashboards * Anything else you imagine. This is a remarkably simple yet powerful tool.

The AI revolution is a dream come true for modern marketers. When generative AI went mainstream, we embraced some quick win use cases like content creation and quick photo editing. But what came next was much bigger. We saw AI copilots come onto the scene to ride along humans. And then... autonomous AI Workers. The inbound SDR is the perfect example of a role that are ripe for AI. The tasks are repetitive and largely language-based, and require a vast amount of knowledge about your product. Fielding FAQs, booking meetings, sending follow-up emails… If AI can take over those tasks, you can free up your people to work on even higher-value projects. Perhaps prospecting or running disco calls. But not everyone is there yet, and we know it will take some time for enterprise teams to fully embrace AI Workers. Our Co-founder, Sean Whiteley, talks with customers every day about where they are on their AI journey and this is what he’s observed: The C-suite is under a lot of pressure Sean hears from execs all the time that their boards are mandating they get a strategy around their AI experimentation. It’s clear AI is the next tech revolution and VCs know that this is the direction the industry is heading, so CMOs and CROs and CTOs are all drinking through a firehose right now to get up to speed. People are cautiously optimistic Even with the speed at which this revolution is happening, there’s a lot of optimism on teams about what this means for the future of SaaS. Sean is hearing a lot about experimental budget opening up and teams getting room to play as these AI Workers hit the market. Everyone is starting to move in the same direction  These shifts take time, but we’re at a point in the revolution where most teams realize they need a strategy around how and when they automate roles and integrate generative AI products into their tech stacks. AdAttributionKit: Unpacking Apple’s new ad attribution framework AAK unifies Apple’s various advertising attribution frameworks under a single umbrella product name and extends SKAdNetwork in meaningful ways, including with support for re-engagement and alternative app marketplaces. These are substantive improvements. But impediments to adoption remain: IP-based attribution is still widely viewed as a suitable alternative to Apple’s native iOS attribution framework, meaning that platform tools like Conversion APIs will take adoption priority.

Fintech companies are increasingly tapping into their transaction data to power ad platforms, with PayPal being the latest to jump into the game.  Dr. Mark Grether, who previously led Uber’s billion-dollar ad business, announced that PayPal Ads is set to launch in time for Black Friday. Leveraging data from over 400 million PayPal users, 90 million Venmo users and the 225 billion transactions processed by its merchants, PayPal’s new ad network will allow advertisers to target their ideal clients more precisely and to measure conversions more effectively by handling the whole customer journey, from seeing an ad for a product to paying for it. Initially, ads will run PayPal owned properties such as PayPal, Venmo and Honey. However, starting next year, PayPal Ads will expand to its network of more than 30 millions merchants. Fintechs like Klarna and Revolut are also developing their own ad network to capitalize on their transactions data. Modeled after Retail Media Networks (RMN) that have emerged from retail giants Walmart and Amazon, that allow anyone to display ads in their marketplace and leverage their transactions data, the industry calls those ad networks launched by financial firms Financial Media Networks (FMNs). According to emarketer, ad spend on these networks will quadruple in the next two years on those networks to reach 1.5 billion USD in 2026. This rising importance of fintech data in advertising is driven by the decline of third-party cookies, increased privacy regulations around the world and limitations imposed by private platforms such as Apple that makes it harder for advertisers to track users online. Tech entrepreneur James Borow summarized this shift from behavioural ad networks like Google and Facebook to ad networks powered by transaction data in a recent post on X: “Payments are the new cookies (no matter what Google says about them) and Shopify has one of the best hands to play in ads as a result.“ Companies that have access to transaction data indeed have an increasing competitive edge in targeting consumers. Amazon, with $46.9 billion in ad revenue in 2023, is a good example. Shopify, whose e-commerce and payment platform power no less than 4 millions online stores, keep refining its ad network called Shopify Audiences and recently started allowing advertisers to exclude current customers from their campaigns’ target audiences. As someone who launched a fintech relying on transaction data to recommend financial products, I’ve been expecting this shift for a while. Companies with logged-in users and transaction histories hold a powerful advantage. PayPal, Klarna, Shopify and Revolut are just the beginning, and I would be surprised if the likes of Stripe or Adyen didn’t launch an ad network of their own at some point. Marketplaces as we know them are changing, that's for sure, but with disruption comes opportunity! Colin Gardiner does a fantastic job outlining the current landscape, gaps, and potential trajectories, and most importantly is realistically optimistic about the impact smart and thoughtful humans can have on shaping the new frontier of agentic AI-driven marketplaces.

Everyone, meet Joe - the new owner of a $1,000,000 profit business Some numbers for you… Years in business: 50 Employees: 23 Clients: 60+ ebitda: $1M+ The business: Point B Communications - a full-stack digital agency in Chicago. Here’s Joe’s story... Joe grew up in Provo, Utah and was basically born to hustle. Back in college at BYU, he started his first business—a marketing agency. After graduating, Joe took a detour into corporate life. He spent nearly 10 years in medical device sales and led some big teams.
