I really enjoyed developing this piece for the Philadelphia Business Journal on AI Best Practices. AI is not Y2K. It’s transformative like electricity. Every company must assess how it’s operations can be improved by AI, how they can drive more revenue with AI, and how they can mitigate the risks with using AI.

Today, the Practising Law Institute (PLI) held its Twenty-Second Annual Directors’ Institute on Corporate Governance in NYC. It was a privilege to speak on the topic, “Privacy, Cyber and AI: The Board’s Oversight Role with fellow panelists: Judith Germano, Linnie Haynesworth and Bethany Mayer, all of us serving as public company board directors with extensive governance experience, moderated by Miriam Wugmeister, Partner with Morrison Foerster. We had a robust and insightful discussion on the board responsibilities for overseeing privacy, cyber and AI for public companies including if a specific board committee should have the lead responsibility; the impact one year later of the SEC cyber rules and Executive Orders; significant court cases in this area; and the impact of Supreme Court Cases and Executive Orders to overseeing privacy, cyber and AI; and best practices for board education on these important areas. Bethany, Linnie and I were able to participate virtually (which was perfect for me as I was just in NYC last week)!
