The withdrawal penalty is usually stated as a number of days/months of lost interest.
In certain interest rate environments, this penalty may be insufficient to discourage depositors from redeeming their deposit despite the penalty. If a depositor does redeem, they are confronted with re-investment decisions.
This invention formulates a customized CD to mature on the same date as the original CD, thereby providing a clearly defined net benefit to transfer the account to the new terms.
