The Massachusetts Clean Peak Standard (or CPS) will help #renewableenergy developers and operators further increase returns on storage assets. In addition to using #batteries for energy arbitrage, ancillary services, solar firming, curbing curtailment, and more – operators leveraging this program are awarded for having renewable energy available to contribute in what were already the most lucrative hours. Projects able to capture Clean Peak Energy Credits (or CPECs) by combining accurate forecasting and operations that ensure operators deliver into peak hours, will have the winning formula to support grid reliability and maximize revenue as MA transitions the grid. It's Machias Monday! AMS Renewable Energy is thrilled to announce our continued progress on the Machias Solar Farm in Machias, NY. This community solar project, developed by Radial Power LLC, spans 16 acres, located just an hour south of Buffalo, NY. With a capacity of 2.78 MW, the Machias Solar Farm will make clean energy more accessible to local residents, allowing them to save on their electric bills while reducing their carbon footprint. As part of New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) program, this initiative enables subscribers to enjoy bill credits to offset their National Grid charges. Our innovative approach included designing an APA Solar Racking fixed-tilt array with ground screws, effectively addressing subsurface risks posed by glacial till observed during pull-testing. Hybrid power plants should be able to systematically replace older combustion turbines anywhere in the world. The current push to install new fossil-gas power plants to meet computing demand is incredibly backward looking. The world is changing so fast at this point, if you try to advance while looking backward, you're going to end up flat on your ass, getting trampled by the people passing you.

I recently spent time at #ClimateWeekNYC with leaders from across government and industry focused on the climate challenge, energy security and economic development. I was honored to participate in the Clean Energy Superpower Summit, featuring UK Energy Secretary Ed Miliband. Secretary Miliband illustrated his vision to drive economic growth and make the UK a Clean Energy Superpower and we at National Grid are proud to help support that goal. This year, we announced a significant step up in energy infrastructure investment – investing around £60 billion in our energy networks over the next five years. This investment will help unlock economic growth, create thousands of new jobs, and enable the increasingly digital, electrified, and decarbonized economies of the future. ✅ The future of New Hampshire's 'net metering' system - a policy that credits homeowners for the extra solar energy they produce - may drastically change the state's solar energy landscape. ✅ The proposed settlement includes maintaining the current rate for two years and the introduction of application fees (ranging from $200 to $1000) for net-metered projects. ✅ Electricity costs in New Hampshire, the 8th highest in the U.S, play a significant role in potential solar project initiators, but unfavorable regulations may deter solar panel adoption. Thriving amidst uncertainties around net metering in New Hampshire, this blog post shines light on the impact of this system which credits homeowners' utility bills for surplus solar power returned to the grid. Looming changes to this policy propose to maintain the current rate for two years, accompanied by newly introduced application fees. Such changes affect the growth of solar companies and solar panel installation in the state, possibly altering the industry's landscape. The high cost of electricity in New Hampshire pushes for solar solutions, however, potential hindrances like decreased net metering could discourage solar panel adoption. It's important for future solar panel consumers to track policy updates, just as it happened in California where a decline in net metering corresponded with an 80% drop in installation applications. PVMagazine USA reporting on the number of projects in the queue in PA. "Pennsylvania queued solar projects would increase total capacity 18x Land development marketplace LandGate released data through Q3 2024 showing that Pennsylvania has 46 solar facilities combining for 562 MW of capacity. There are an additional 9 projects actively under construction that will increase the state’s capacity by nearly 50%, adding 263 MW of additional capacity. Proposed projects waiting in queues total 480 projects combining for 10,469 MW. However, it takes time for these queued projects to come online, particularly in Pennsylvania, which is managed by the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM). LandGate said it takes an average of 3 years for a project to go from queue to operational. The company expects about 10 GW of utility-scale solar to come online by the end of 2025, which would mark an unprecedented boom year for the state. However, the potential 18x increase in solar capacity depends on queued projects actually coming online, which may be challenged by grid interconnection delays."
