I started by planning with the Klingberg Family Center in New Britain, CT. We discussed work needed to be done including hedge removal, yard work, and installing a wheelchair accessible gazebo. This is when I started making a timeline, materials list, meeting with the children of the facility, and thinking about fundraising. Also, I started meeting with a representative from Kloter Farms helping with the gazebo. I then drafted donation letters and went to local businesses. I was able to raise over $2500 dollars to help pay primarily for the gazebo. 9 months from the start of planning, scouts and leaders helped remove the hedges and create a platform for the gazebo. Combined, this project took 250 hours among all participants. Finally, at the end of the summer of 2014, the gazebo was delivered completing the project. Klingberg Family Center is famous for a annual charity classic car show, and my project has benefitted this event greatly.
