The Trade Desk Operating System (Axios) TTD is developing a new connected television operating system called Ventura. The system, set to launch in 2025, aims to improve transparency and measurement in the CTV advertising ecosystem by partnering with hardware companies and television distributors. The Trade Desk believes its lack of content ownership will provide a more objective solution compared to existing OS providers like Roku, Amazon, and Google.

Comcast launching Universal Ads, a platform for SMBs to buy streaming inventory, points to two different paths for CTV’s evolution. One path is about making streaming available to reach and frequency buyers, including SMBs. The other is about making CTV a performance channel that can truly compete with search and social (which is why SMBs gravitate to Google and Meta). These two paths require completely different technologies, language, skill sets, sales approaches, optimization algorithms, reporting, media spend controls, data transparency and control, attribution analytics, etc. In other words, it’s great to put a lot of streaming inventory in one place and make it more accessible. But the bigger opportunity is making CTV capable of the very thing that has made search and social a $500 billion combined opportunity: unleashing fully measurable performance that advertisers trust. We are huge fans of democratizing TV advertising and applaud any effort to engage more advertisers in CTV. But to reach its full potential, CTV must deliver the same results for performance advertisers, including SMBs, that search and social do. #PerformanceTV #CTV

Very insightful article shedding light on the interplay between SVOD and FAST services. Some consumers are shifting from subscriptions to FAST platforms, while others are finding new programs and subscribing to services. The hope is for both types of services to become more complimentary in the future. Great read!

Interesting…2 thoughts…..1.) after 6 years of struggling operations and changing media landscape, in 2008 FCC granted the approval of America’s two subscription/fee based satellite radio companies to merge. 2) now, 16 years later and a tsunami of changes in media landscape with regards to media consumption and media advertising shifts due to shift to digital, the FCC still blocks local radio broadcasters from merging in local markets to preserve free over the air local radio and imposing more regulations. Bonus thought- we have NOT raised our prices for listening in 100 years! No hidden fees, either. Free and Local and here to serve our local communities.

On the heels of the Walmart acquisition of VIZIO, Roku has partnered with The Trade Desk, allowing TTD’s customers with access to Roku's data to enhance campaign optimization for streaming viewers via ACR data. This is in line with Roku’s partnerships strategy and creating more demand and collaboration within their walled garden to drive yield with enhanced audience precision, but this behind the velvet rope of PMP deals.
