Frontier Deepwater has observed that on the opening day of OTC’24 earlier this month, Chevron’s Project Director for the 20,000psi Hi-Pressure Hi-Temp ANCHOR field exclaimed, the company’s commitment was “a real leap of faith”… and, that the project team seems to have managed their way through the COVID Pandemic to keep the challenging project on schedule and within budgeting parameters! First oil from the 1st-of-Kind project is expected later this year. https://lnkd.in/gKxwJN9F #highpressurewells #drillingrisks #subseawells #subseacompletions #deepwaterdrilling #deepwateroil #deepwaterfielddevelopment #projectmanagement #WorldOil #corporatedecisionmaking #Chevron #sustainabledevelopment #oilandgas #oil&gas #environmentalrisks #unsustainable #responsibleenergy #resourcemanagement #EPA #BSEE #BOEM #offshorepollution #offshorepermitting #Macondo #blowout #DeepwaterHorizon #ALARP #OTC #OTC2024

I recently attended the Oil and Gas Holiday Social, where industry leaders came together for a roundtable discussion on workforce strategies for 2025. Huge thanks to Jeff Nugent for coordinating, AJ Sarvarian, CCWP (and Phillips 66) for hosting, and Brian Hoffmeyer, Sara Lager, Thomas Cantando (Beeline), and Craig Huntley (TapFin) for sponsoring the event. One big takeaway for me was the need to better define Staff Augmentation and Statement of Work (SOW) and why understanding the difference matters. Here’s the breakdown: - Staff Augmentation is all about oversight. You’re delegating tasks to individuals with specific training, certifications, and background checks. It’s transparent, you know who’s doing the work and what you’re paying for, but it requires more hands-on management. - Statement of Work (SOW) is project-focused. You define the deliverable, hand it off, and get a finished product. While it can feel quicker, SOW comes with risks: you don’t control who’s doing the work, there’s no visibility into costs, and quality can suffer if specific expertise is required. The group discussed how businesses often lean on SOW for speed, but sometimes what’s labeled SOW is actually better suited for Staff Aug. Missteps here can impact compliance, cost, and outcomes. Key takeaway: Both models serve a purpose, SOW for complete project handoffs and Staff Aug when oversight and expertise are essential. It’s about helping businesses align the right model with the right need. Workforce planning is going to be a big part of what shapes oil and gas in 2025, and it was great to join in on these discussions. #OilAndGasIndustry #WorkforcePlanning

What impact has the IRA and IIJA had on U.S. energy policy? During the Baker Hughes Annual Meeting 2024, esteemed panelists Jack Fusco, Paul Marsden, Mike Sommers and moderator, Rita Lofana, addressed this important topic and debated the potential scale of impact of the IRA and IIJA on the development of new energies globally and addressed the implications of the Biden-Harris administration's decision to temporarily pause on pending approvals of LNG exports. Watch the highlights video below for key takeaways from this engaging discussion and visit the #BHAM2024 proceedings page for more great content: https://lnkd.in/e4gPb4z8 #EnergizingChange #BakerHughes #Energy #EnergyTechnology #EnergyTransition #Innovation #WeAreBakerHughes

Collaboration between companies and the government is going to be critical to solve the challenges we face reducing emissions whilst providing affordable and realiable energy. Policy certainty is one key element required. Conversations like these with The Low Carbon Contracts Company and ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions enables the sharing of perspectives to help find the collaborative solutions required to potentially bring investment to the UK.

🌿💼 Great commentary Jeff Gitterman! We believe the overturning of Chevron Deference will only increase adoption of sustainable, responsible and impact (#SRI) investing in the long run. When the government is unwilling or unable to provide adequate protections for clean air and water, it is inevitable that shareholders will demand better environmental practices from the companies they own. #SustainableInvesting #ImpactInvesting #ResponsibleInvesting #CleanAir #CleanWater #ShareholderPower #FutureFinance https://lnkd.in/gSnAgevq

Relocation to a more welcoming environment makes perfect sense, so does executing a succession strategy for retiring executives/management. What I found interesting was the length of service of the retiring leadership, perhaps this is not the case with Chevron but, I do wonder if there is a correlation between extended service and underperformaning corporations. What is a successful balance between long-term strategic focus and innovation, how does a corporation renew itself without new perspectives and fresh ideas?

Join us for the 2nd Annual Oil and Gas Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Summit: Sponsored by: Phillips 66, Baker Hughes, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, Halliburton, TechnipFMC * In person and virtual registration links below. Mental Health and suicide trends are on the rise and the Oil & Gas industry is being directly impacted. Rates of mental health concerns and completed suicides are increasing in the industry and surpassing the US average rate of 14.1 per 100,000. If we were losing employees at this rate to any other hazard, our safety cultures would demand immediate and sustained action. It is proven that effective mental health programming saves lives, while improving safety, and productivity. We can take this opportunity to collaborate as an industry to address improvements in creating and maintaining cost effective cultures and programs that support the mental wellbeing of this unique workforce. I'm incredibly proud of Baker Hughes for continuing to drive meaningful dialogues about energy transition for sustainable energy development. Our team recently contributed to the inaugural Houston Energy & Climate week by hosting discussions around technologies and solutions that transform, transfer, and transport energy efficiently while capturing and cutting emissions. Here are some highlights: ✔️ Discussions about hydrocarbons and renewables should not be an 'either or' conversation. The goal of sustainable energy development is to use all available energy sources. ✔️ The energy system is increasingly interconnected, making collaboration essential for the energy transition. Achieving a net-zero future requires partnerships between public and private sectors, governments, companies, and local communities. ✔️ Baker Hughes offers a wide range of integrated solutions to tackle energy transition challenges, including emissions abatement, carbon capture, hydrogen, clean power, and more. Through our Oilfield Services & Equipment (OFSE) and Industrial & Energy Technology (IET), we are enabling the low carbon energy ecosystem of the future. 💡 Employees Find Career Mobility at Energy Transition Leader BJ Energy Solutions 💡 With more than 300 Louisiana employees, Houston-based BJ Energy Solutions is helping transition the world’s upstream oil and gas companies to a higher level of sustainability by using innovative technology solutions in energy exploration and production. After a major rebranding in 2020, the company is laser focused on developing sustainable solutions for its oil and gas clients, drawing on more than 150 years in the energy sector. BJ’s Bossier City site supports oil and gas companies with oil fields across Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The company provides pioneering technology that makes exploration and production greener and more cost effective. In fact, Bossier City is where BJ first launched its energy-efficient platform, TITANTM , a system that deploys natural gas-powered turbines instead of using diesel fuel. The technology sets BJ apart from its North American competitors, giving its clients a pronounced advantage. Customers can increase their pumping productivity, but even more importantly, they can do it while saving money and having a smaller environmental impact, says BJ’s Talent Acquisition Manager Preston Peery. To get the job done, BJ hires a wide variety of skilled trade positions, including field engineers, logistics coordinators, technicians, heavy equipment mechanics and others. The company has made onboarding veterans a top priority, recruiting from nearby Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. Peery says the company offers generous benefits, and many employees are eligible for daily performance bonuses based on efficiency, productivity and safety compliance. Field employees typically work two weeks on followed by one week off and are provided housing as well as travel to and from field locations. “We want employees to feel comfortable and prepared,” Peery says. Training and development are also prioritized, Peery says, so that employees can continue to grow in their positions and pursue promotion. The company pays for continuing education and is currently developing a partnership with Bossier Parish Community College that will enable employees to take classes to improve their hard and soft skills. “We are constantly sending them out to earn different certifications,” Peery says. “It’s pretty cool to see this happen, especially when they come back and can share their knowledge with fellow employees.” Moreover, the company is keen on promoting from within, Peery says. “As a company that has experienced rapid growth the last three years, managers are always looking at who their next ‘high potential’ employees are, and asking how we can develop them.” Peery says. “We’re always looking for those individuals who are shining and want to move up.” Apply for careers with BJ Energy on LEDFastStart.com!

👏 This is why US oil and gas production and processing is vital to the Energy Trilemma - a lower carbon energy source that's reliable, secure, and affordable. The industry has to continue pushing itself to do better, become more efficient, and continue to adopt technologies. 🥇 All while setting new records. This week, the U.S. Energy Information Administration latest report stated "[m]ore crude oil was produced in the United States during August 2024 than during December 2023, when the previous monthly record of 13.3 million b/d was set" **Lowering emissions while producing more hydrocarbons**
