They promise to make our applications faster, simpler, and more robust. HTTP/2 was specifically created to reduce the load latency of web pages by addressing some of the well-known performance limitations of HTTP/1.1. At the same time, QUIC/HTTP3 presents a new transport mechanism altogether to replace TCP. Companies are still rolling out a lot of these optimisations. Daksh Gupta of Greptile collected real-world insights from engineers at many of the world's largest tech companies, unpacking the intricacies that either propel or impede the speed of shipping code. The big reveal? Older and larger companies tend to move more slowly because the costs of missteps become greater. Our Kumo.AI blog post on Hybrid GNNs is out. https://lnkd.in/gpzr8TiF We have seen success with our Hybrid GNNs across several marketplace problems. Hybrid GNNs are a novel innovation at Kumo.AI because they model both repeated and explorative user interactions within a single GNN framework. The GNN automatically infers whether a user tends to do repeat purchases or tends to be more exploratory (ie buying new unseen items) and learns a repetition scalar per user. What we love about this approach is that it takes away from the standard recommendation systems architecture where you have multiple candidate generators - some for new unseen items, some for repeat behavior and then have to combine them in a final multi-objective optimization framework. Such systems which are a combination of multiple systems are hard to maintain, re-train and operationalize. On the Kaggle H&M challenge where most winning teams usually have approaches that require large amounts of feature engineering and the final system is a complex ensemble of approaches needing months to build, the Kumo.AI approach which is a 3 line predictive query that runs a Hybrid GNN under the hood is top 1%. One of my krantikari tech leaders and ex-colleague Bhushan Deshpande discussed the possibility of using JHipster for accelerating the development of a product. JHipster is an incredible open-source platform that allows developers to generate full-stack web applications quickly, combining Java (Spring Boot) on the backend with Angular/React/Vue.js on the frontend. AI Self Healing is live AQUMEN LABS. Over the past month, the team has been working hard to reduce costs incurred by AI during automation. AI self-healing helped us in : 1. Reducing test writing and automation by 90% - We wrote a test for login and completing an FTUE of a game in just 2 minutes [Faster than other low code tools] and not to mention the Game is in UNITY [Yes we support Unity :) ]. 2. Reduce the Maintenance of the test script by 80%. The test will be healed when you select the Heal checkbox on your test step. 3. We have successfully implemented a Hybrid approach, where our framework is intelligent enough to decide whether to use AI, which helped us in reducing the cost. For cost reference: MultiOn [an agentic AI] uses 0.04$ per step and AQUMEN LABS uses 0.03$ per step executed and that too in an intelligent way :) This is purely a Vision-Based Multi-Model approach we do not use any locators to heal. What happens under the hood when you turn on your Android mobile phone When you power on your mobile phone, a meticulous self-test is conducted on all the hardware components. This comprehensive check ensures that every part of your device is functioning flawlessly. Once this rigorous hardware test is successfully completed, the Boot ROM, stored on the CPU, initiates the loading process. The bootloader loads Android OS, validating certain aspects of the initial loading. The kernel loads device drivers and background processes and manages the system resources. The init process loads and mounts directories and files and starts various processes. The Android runtime is initialized and is mainly used by the Android operating system. As the runtime, ART executes the Dalvik executable (DEX) format and DEX bytecode specification. After these system services are started, the activity manager kicks in to bring the user the initial screen to start interacting. Power-On Self-Test (POST): When you press the power button, the phone undergoes a quick self-check process known as POST. This test ensures that essential hardware components like the processor, memory, and battery function correctly. Bootloader: After the POST is successfully completed, the bootloader, a small yet crucial program stored in the phone's read-only memory (ROM), takes charge. It not only initializes the hardware but also orchestrates the booting process, including selecting the operating system to load. Loading the Kernel: The bootloader loads the Android kernel into the device's RAM (Random Access Memory). The kernel is the core of the Android operating system. It manages the device's resources, such as the CPU, memory, and input/output operations. Init Process: Once the kernel is loaded, the init process (short for initialization) is started. This process is responsible for initializing the Android system and launching essential system services and daemons. Android Runtime (ART) Initialization. This is a critical step as ART is the runtime environment where Android applications come to life. It's responsible for a significant task and compiles the application code into machine code, ensuring efficient execution on the device's hardware. This makes ART a crucial part of the booting process. Starting System Services: After the initialization of ART, various system services are started. These services include the Android System Server, which manages core system components like the package manager, activity manager, and window manager. Launcher and User Interface: Once the system services are up and running, the launcher (the user interface that displays your home screen, app icons, and widgets) is started. This allows you to interact with your device and access your installed applications. Loading Applications: Any pre-installed applications and services configured to start automatically are loaded. These may include system apps like the dialer, messaging app.
