ISRAEL LEBANON WAR In 1982, the Israeli Invasion of Lebanon led to rare moments where US media exposed the brutality of the Israeli regime’s actions, calling it what it was - “Imperialism.” Fast forward to today, and the narrative has drastically shifted. Where once journalists questioned the ethics of Israeli aggression, today's corporate media often serves as a mouthpiece for influential propagandists, muting criticism and distorting facts. What changed? Why has critical reporting given way to silence or sanitised narratives? In an era where political alliances often compromise journalistic integrity, we must remember these moments in history when the media was unafraid to challenge imperial violence. Our role as citizens is to demand transparency, truth, and a return to fearless journalism.

Ehud Olmert , x prime minister of #israel wrote this (translated) at Haaretz I accuse #Netanyahu, of deliberately extending the war between Israel and the Palestinian terrorists. The reason for not setting precise objectives for the army is the desire to drag out the fighting without setting a deadline for its end. I accuse #Netanyahu of intending to expand the war and open a direct military confrontation with Hezbollah, instead of reaching, with the mediation of the USA and France, an agreement with the Lebanese that would end the current violent conflict and allow tens of thousands of northern residents to return home. I accuse #Netanyahu of a deliberately causing a violent and widespread flare-up in the West Bank, knowing in advance that such a confrontation would lead to the expansion of war crimes committed against Palestinian residents who are not involved in terrorism. Such crimes are already being committed by Israelis settlers, not by conscripted soldiers, but by private militias of rioters, carrying weapons that were mostly given to them in a dubious process, initiated by the Minister of National Security, Itamsr Ben Gvir. These weapons are used by rioting settlers, protecting them as they harass Palestinians, burn their property, destroy their fields—which are a source of livelihood and life—and directly kill innocent people. I accuse #netanyahu of deliberately abandoning the Israeli hostages still held by Hamas murderers. His refusal to reach an agreement that would allow the return of the hostages is based on the claim that such a solution would prevent achieving a victory over Hamas. However, the option for a complete victory does not exist now and did not exist from the first day it was presented by the Prime Minister. It was initially intended to set an impossible goal so that the Prime Minister could, at any time he chose, blame the military and the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi—for failing to achieve it. The Chief of Staff bears heavy responsibility for the shocking failure of October 7 and, with the courage that characterizes all his actions since he first donned the uniform, looked directly at the people of Israel and acknowledged his responsibility and duty to draw personal conclusions from this responsibility in due course. The Prime Minister, managing through his emissaries, his corrupted family members, and spokespersons at various media junctures, a campaign against the military, security, and political leadership that does not obey him, refrains from doing the obvious, natural thing expected of someone who has been the dominant factor in defining military, security, and political priorities for many years. He spreads poison, incitement, contempt, and attempts to undermine the trust of the people of Israel in the commanders leading the fighting forces during this difficult time. Today I had the honor of meeting one of the toughest and most inspirational men I've ever met, Mr Reznikov, former Ukrainian Minister of Defense. Mr Reznikov, his two advisors and I met privately, and although I can not yet share details about our conversation he did later participate in the Haas Event "Innovation and Resilience in Ukraine: Military, Geopolitical, and Economic Fronts". Him and fellow panelists discussed recent data, learnings but also a path forward. The group presented several learnings and findings, and I thought I would share my condensed top 3 learnings: Comparison of the forces: Before the conflict started the West thought this would be a conflict between a large Soviet Army and a small Soviet Army, but Ukraine had made a decisive change after the 2014 conflict, where they started to think about how to fight Russia. They had ample practice in Donbas, and much of the infrastructure was set in place. As such, when US Generals concluded that "Kiev will fall in 72 hours" publicly on tv (!) Ukraine knew better. When Russia assumed 60% of Ukrainians was in favor of joining Russia and only 10% of Ukrainians would fight back, the lines was endless to the recruitment offices across the country. Ukraine is still in the fight, and although Russia holds the initiative tactically, it's too early to consider it done. Neither side is dumb, both sides are learning and evolving. Moving from Tactical to Operational to Strategic warfare: The war started as an improvised march into Ukrainian territory, but quickly the Ukrainians started beating the Russians on the Tactical execution. The Operational battlefield have shifted back and forth, with the 2022 counteroffensive as a good example, and with Russia conquering minor cities on the eastern front. But no real breakthroughs have been seen, and although the war is seeing tremendous losses on both sides the battlefield might not be the judge of how this conflict will end. Instead, the war is now fought on the strategic side, with Ukrainians trying to build up their industrial base under pressure from power outages from missile attacks, with a newly re-established grain corridor and with resilience built in. To strike back we are now seeing attacks on oil refineries, factories and infrastructure. Last Great war fought by humans: This was has seen rapid innovation, from new type of drones and loitering ammunition, to advances within electronic warfare. Landmines are quickly spread with the help of artillery, and tanks are not obsolete, but a lot less effective than in previous conflicts. As such, this is most likely the last conflict fought by humans. Robots, in the forms of UAVs, UGVs, smart missiles or submarines, will dominate 10 to 20 years from now. The west would do well investing in these capabilities early.

As father of three girls, my wife and I constantly empower our Israeli daughters to dare dream, set big bold bets, and work hard to see them through. We see ourselves as the enabling infrastructure providing guidance, support and compassion when needed. Same for our country Israel. It has long been recognized for its progressive stance on gender equality, providing equal opportunities in many aspects of society, including the military. The stories of these four women reflect a broader narrative: a nation that values the contributions of all its citizens, where individuals can excel and break barriers, and where diversity is a cornerstone of national strength. Their involvement in this mission serves as a powerful reminder that Israel is not just a place of rich history and culture, but also a modern society where women can rise to any challenge. ✨ I was honored to speak at the United Nations Association of Central Pennsylvania event last night, where I had the opportunity to share the impactful work the Armenian government has been doing in collaboration with the UN. Here are some key highlights: 🗣️ Eliminating Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission Armenia's achievement in eliminating mother-to-child HIV transmission was recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and awarded by the UN Public Service Awards for innovation and excellence in delivering healthcare services in 2017. This milestone directly contributes to UN SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and is a remarkable example of collaborative efforts with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). I am happy to have been part of this work during my 7 years at the National Center for AIDS Prevention, Ministry of Health of Armenia. 🗣️ Integrated Social Services & Disability Assessment Platform Armenia’s Integrated System for Social Services, which I am currently working on, and the Disability Assessment Platform launched last year, are key initiatives designed to improve accessibility and efficiency in delivering social services. 📍The Disability Assessment Platform, in particular, aims to provide a more efficient, transparent, and accessible system for evaluating individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary support and services. By digitalizing and automating the assessment process, it reduces bureaucratic delays and enhances the accuracy of assessments. 📍The social services reform in #Armenia is a vital part of the country’s broader strategy to reduce poverty and enhance transparency in the delivery of services. This reform aims to integrate and streamline various social assistance programs into a single, unified platform, making it easier for citizens, especially vulnerable groups, to access the support they need. By improving efficiency and transparency, the reform contributes to the goal of delivering services that are fair, inclusive, and accountable, ensuring that no one is left behind. Both platforms contribute significantly to several UN SDGs, including: SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. These projects are continuously supported by UN agencies in Armenia, ensuring that we can collectively reach these ambitious goals. "From Armenian Dream to American Reality: A Journey of Business, Betrayal, and Boldness" In 2021, I came to the USA to live and pursue my business dreams in America. Like all goal-oriented people, I had my own version of the American Dream. Before this, I had been successfully running a business in Armenia for 9 years. I own a furniture and door production facility in Armenia, but with Armenia being a small country, the economic opportunities are limited. Additionally, due to health issues, cold climates are not suitable for me, which led to my decision to move to the States. Having been successful in Armenia, I always had extra funds and a passion for entrepreneurship. I invested in various startups and participated in charitable endeavors. When I moved here, I believed that our Armenian Diaspora in the US was thriving, that most people were doing well financially. I mistakenly thought that with their financial success, many would be interested in startups and entrepreneurial ventures like my friends and I back in Armenia. But as I settled in, I realized how wrong I was. Yes, many in our Diaspora have money. But soon, I discovered that much of this wealth was earned through dishonest means. People live well, drive luxury cars, and reside in beautiful homes, yet few own businesses or employ workers. This revelation shook me. It became clear that startups held little appeal to them. No one was interested in investing, buying new businesses, or taking risks for growth. They've become comfortable with easy money and are unwilling to exchange their luxurious lifestyles for the challenges of building something meaningful. For the first time in my life, I encountered a widespread lack of ambition. There are countless problems in this country, and only a small percentage of people aspire to create and build something new. When my friend Onan and I began building our business, everyone asked why we were working so hard when there were easier ways to make money. But as people saw us building our production with a modest budget, they started offering investments. However, these offers lacked substance—just money with no value-added. When I asked what they could contribute besides cash, the answer was nothing. So, I decided to decline all offers. After all, I can get money from a bank whenever I need it. The war that the internet forgot⚠️ The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, a long-standing territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan, has seen a recent escalation in hostilities. This region, internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but with a majority Armenian population, has been a flashpoint for armed clashes. Amidst this tension, Azerbaijan has utilized advanced LORA missiles from Israel, which are quasi-ballistic with a 400 km range with error probability of just 10 meters. In response, Armenia is seeking to enhance its defensive capabilities by potentially purchasing Pralay missiles from India. These missiles are an integral part of India's rocket force, boasting a range of 150 to 500 km. Pralay's quasi-ballistic nature allows for mid-flight trajectory adjustments and low-altitude travel, making them nearly impossible to intercept due to their capability to release decoys. The effectiveness of Pralay is comparable to the Iskander-M, which has been successfully deployed in Ukraine, thereby validating Pralay's combat reliability. India’s previous military support to Armenia, including Pinaka missiles and artillery guns, along with a signed deal for Akasha missiles, positions India as a significant defense partner. If Armenia finalizes the Pralay missile deal, it will be India's largest defense contract of 2024, significantly bolstering India's reputation as a major global defense exporter. Recently, the President of Azerbaijan received a ceremonial welcome in Pakistan where he expressed support for Kashmir. Therefore, this deal would not only enhance Armenia's military capabilities but also serve as a strategic warning to Azerbaijan regarding their recent focus on the Kashmir issue. Also, the deterioration in Armenia-Russia relations, with the former adamant upon a withdrawal from the Russian-led CSTO due to unmet defense promises by Russia while they were under attack by Azerbaijan, underscores Armenia's pivot towards other defense partners like India. This shift reflects the broader dynamics of regional power plays and international defense collaborations. This is a troubling example of political suppression. Grigorian Khachatur is a prominent Armenian entrepreneur, and many of you may have used gg’s services during your visits to Armenia. Now, his company is at risk due to government actions against him for his political views. Political repression in Armenia is reaching alarming levels, impacting even the tech sector. Let’s stand with Khachatur and support his fight for justice. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people in Israel and the Middle East in this moment. **Notification: Imminent Attack on Israel by Iran** As of October 1, 2024, U.S. intelligence has confirmed that Iran is preparing a ballistic missile strike against Israel, marking a significant escalation in Middle East tensions. The White House and U.S. Department of Defense have issued warnings, while U.S. Embassy personnel in Israel have been instructed to shelter in place. Iran’s planned retaliation is seen as a response to Israeli operations in southern Lebanon and the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The U.S. government is actively supporting Israel’s defensive preparations, including deploying additional air defense capabilities, fighter squadrons, and missile defense ships in the region. The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier has been ordered to remain in the Middle East to support efforts to deter the attack. According to a senior White House official, any direct military strike by Iran will result in “severe consequences.” Iran’s April 2024 attack involved over 300 missiles and drones targeting Israeli cities and military sites. It is expected that the current preparation could result in a more intense assault, possibly calibrated to avoid massive Israeli retaliation, but designed to demonstrate Iran’s regional influence and military capacity. On Sept. 27, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly warned Iran, “If you strike us, we will strike you.” Both the U.S. and Israel are bracing for the escalation of hostilities, with the potential for broader regional conflict. Israel has already initiated a ground operation in southern Lebanon, aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s infrastructure, as Hezbollah continues to retaliate with rocket strikes into northern Israel. Given the rapidly unfolding situation, Exiger is closely monitoring the developments to assess the impact on regional stability and global supply chains.
