The regulatory void existing for drone policy hinders consumer adoption and stymies innovation. In a recent meeting with President Trump, drone manufacturers even took the rare step of asking for greater regulation on their industry to dissolve this uncertainty. There is an urgent need for a technically robust and ethically responsible framework to satisfy the relevant stakeholders, including recreational and fleet drone operators, law enforcement, local communities, and all users of the National Airspace System. In too many cases, debate has been stalled by conceptual confusion or cynical commercial interests. We urge the adoption of a solution that is not only commercially attractive and technically viable but ethically informed. Here, we provide the concrete technical details to show that a solution is possible that honors public safety, consumer privacy, and commercial interests.

See the world through the eyes of a child who knew nothing else. Feel the hope of truth when it is revealed. Learn how you can save a child’s life—a child with the potential to change the world.

Fox learned what it means to survive. Through the love and kindness of once strangers, he has learned to thrive. He has found success as an advocate for youth rights and CEO of WhiteFox Defense Technologies, Inc.

Fox quickly learned the need for advocacy, which has been a passion for him his entire life. From starting the first human trafficking task-force in his county to writing and passing legislation to enhance foster youth rights, he has dedicated his life to developing and implementing improvements across systems.

He discussed possible solutions with members of the California State Legislature and worked with attorneys to devise a bill that would fix that error. That bill would let foster youth ... see their siblings that weren’t in foster care. What Fox didn’t know, was that he wasn’t the only one working on a bill to fix sibling visitation in California. California Youth Connection, an organization that teaches leadership and advocacy skills to foster youth, was already working on a similar bill. So Fox reached out to them to discuss how they might be able to collaborate on their efforts. They then merged their efforts into Senate Bill 1099, which was passed by the California State Legislature, and signed by California Governor Jerry Brown on September 29, 2014. The new sibling visitation bill [became] law January 1, 2015..." — LifeSetNetwork

The Isabel P. Ruiz Humanitarian Award annually recognizes and rewards a local individual (male or female) for outstanding efforts in advocacy and caring for local people in San Luis Obispo County. This award is designed to honor the dedication and commitment to caring about people exhibited by the late Isabel P. Ruiz. Mrs. Ruiz came to America in 1973 as a medical doctor (OB/GYN) trained in her native Peru. She worked and helped local people with accessing and utilizing the health care system. She was a role model for the Latino community as well as for women. In everything she did, she worked to overcome barriers, improve the system of care for all, and advocate for the rights of the under-represented. Her philosophy was to “be the bridge” whenever opportunities arise to help an individual become more self-sufficient.

Mrs. Ruiz’s approach was to think outside the box, be open to new ideas and risk, identify solutions, take action for long-term impact, educate those in power about the issues and potential solutions, support her colleagues in trying new strategies, and serve as a mentor-recognizing the potential of others and foster their growth to succeed.

This award is designed to encourage those who follow in Mrs. Ruiz’s footsteps to remain committed to community organizing and advocacy to improve the lives of everyone in San Luis Obispo County.

It's how they solve critical problems facing the world. True innovation. You can't train someone to innovate. It must be forged through adversity.

While it turns out that you can't train innovation, you can train workplace skills, such as professional communication and task management. And the best part is that there are programs available to assist companies who can see people's unique abilities rather than being distracted by their disabilities. You can learn more by contacting your local SBDC office to learn more about the financial and support services available to companies. By seeing the value someone brings to a company and the value a company can return, business leaders can continue to create a culture of inclusion. After all, inclusion drives innovation.

This standard development process will be performed in partnership with the federal government to help fill a void in the industry because there are no current standards that cover these topic areas. In 2018, the federal government identified a potential concern related to use of certain UAS over cybersecurity risks when flying them due to where the data from the UAS was being sent. In order to ensure that a UAS’ data is protected, AIA has initiated and effort to create a standard that will restrict the user’s data to being transported only to locations that are safe and approved by the user. Once completed, this standard will provide a measure of compliance to enable data from any brand of UAS being flown to be handled in a secure, safe and user approved manner.
