At Expedia Group, we take pride in using our data and insights to understand what's trending and inspire travelers to explore the world. We've just unveiled our latest travel trends in Unpack '25, which we launched in 18 countries, and there's a lot to get excited about! Expedia: 🌎 Goods Getaways: Travel to new places and bring back trending products, from French butter to Korean skincare. I personally stocked up on skincare in South Korea and recently grabbed some trending Swedish candy in NY! 🌎 Detour Destinations: Avoid the crowds and truly immerse yourself in the local culture by taking a detour from popular tourist hotspots. Hotels.com: 🌎 All-Inclusive Era: Not just for the free-flowing drinks and all-you-can-eat buffets anymore. Hotels are stepping up their game and attracting more guests. 🌎 Hotel Restaurant Renaissance: One of my favorite hotels, Hotel del Coronado, is getting a Nobu! Vrbo: 🌎 Phenomena List: People continue flocking to experiences like the Northern Lights and eclipses—this trend is here to stay! 🌎 JOMO (Joy of Missing Out) Travel: Embrace the joy of missing out and enjoy some serene escapes. Other Hot Trends: 🌎 Set Jetting: Always a favorite, and it's still going strong. 🌎 One Click Trips: Who doesn’t love booking a trip based on trusted recommendations? This trend inspired us to create Travel Shops. What trend are you excited about in '25? Travel and creating memories is one of the best gifts! 🚀

A 5-minute litmus test to determine your company or protocol's North Star messaging. Ask your co-founders, CTO, CMO, etc. to dash off a three-sentence explanation of “what we do as a business what we hope to accomplish.” Ask them to give it no more than 1 minute of thought. Then, compare. The difference in answers might shock you.

Anyone working in #comms today knows that #thoughtleadership is one of — if not THE — most impactful ways to build trust for a brand. And the data speaks for itself: 📊 64% of buyers trust thought leadership content over traditional marketing materials and product sheets. 📊 52% of decision-makers—and 54% of C-Suite executives—spend at least an hour a week engaging with thought leadership. 📊 75% say thought leadership has driven them to explore a product or service they hadn’t previously considered. But let’s be real: It's not always easy. It takes time, strategy, and a unique POV to help leaders find their voice. That’s why seeing a win feels rewarding! 🙂 Sharing a small win today as Greg Alvo, our CEO, is featured in Total Retail, sharing some ways eComm retailers can capitalize on the holiday season with subscriptions.

More than anywhere I've ever worked, our values truly guide all that we do and the decisions we make — for our pros, customers and every member of the Thumbtack team. They are so much more than big vinyl stickers on a wall or a plastic card hanging from a lanyard. They don't just get mentioned in all-employee meetings and forgotten about. They are referenced in leadership meetings, in annual planning, during Board meetings and, most importantly, in those "when no one else is watching" moments. And it's in those moments when you see if you are truly a values-driven organization. Our values are embedded in all that we do and I love seeing us sharing them more broadly so everyone outside the company can also see what we stand for and what guides us.

HOLY COW!! What an honor to be named by Built In as the #1 Best Large Remote Company for which to Work. You've heard me repeat it over the years, so it means a lot to have one of the top tech-specific career sites recognize us as such. #thumbtack #workatthumbtack #thumbtackcareers

Am I the only one who gets a bit rattled when someone says they have great “content” (cun-tent)? It’s amazing how one little word can shift from describing satisfaction to referring to scripts, videos, or anything else we create and consume daily. Breaking down the Mix-Up: 1. “Cun-tent” – How you feel when you’re happy with what you have. 2. “Con-tent” – All the brilliant material we produce to keep everyone informed, entertained, and engaged. It’s a small difference, but it can make a big impact when you’re trying to get your message across especially during a pitch or interview. What other word mix-ups do you encounter that make you smile (or cringe)? Drop them in the comments! #Communication #LanguageMatters #ContentCreation #LinkedInFun

Focusing your consumer habits on buying organic food and providing donations to agricultural nonprofits are essential avenues for change, but engaging in significant organic agriculture impact investing is often a missing piece of the puzzle. This December, consider becoming an Iroquois Valley investor or increasing your current investment. Investing with us is an exciting and ethical opportunity to participate in impactful solutions for a better future.

You may groan when you read this, buuuuut trust: You need to write your holiday blogs now, not in November. If you have (or work for) a company that sells anything, especially more things around the holidays, get those blogs done now + pinned on Pinterest. You’ll thank me when that search volume ratchets up in Q3-4. It’s also exactly what I did when I wrote + pinned this blog: https://lnkd.in/gpmSRCGA. #contentwriting #holidaycontent #companyblog #holidayblog #organicsearch

Snort laugh session yesterday with the inimitable Liz Miller of Constellation Research, Inc. about holiday bots. We desperately wish for bots that: 🤖 Outline the perfect holiday family hosting/visiting schedule when there are multiple places to be and things to bring. Would include persona definition, including a personality rating, age range, and weighted joy meter (as in whose joy are you most focused on?). Output would include menu and/or potluck dishes to prepare, ingredients needed, gifts to bring, when you need to make your way to said events (with driving directions), and how long you should be present at each event. Could even include suggested responses to Aunt Mildred's grumblings or Grandpa Joe's political digs. 🎁 Create the gifting list. Inputs would include the past five years' of gifts by recipient to avoid unintentional duplication, recipient personas (see above), and cost range. Output would include budget allocation, from/to suggestions - including deciding what Santa will bring, and links to suggested gifts, with the option to "buy now." Could also include a suggestion list for Mom's stocking ;-) Buh-bye manual gift list spreadsheets and complex caldendaring. 😵💫 HELLO bot-driven organization and orchestration. 🧘♀️ Talk about OUTCOMES! What bot do YOU wish for this season... for customer experience, employee experience, or yourself? Let your imagination run wild and share! Who knows? Maybe you'll get a good laugh out of it, too... or inspo for a new AI bot? #TheresABotForThat #AllABotVerint #GratitudeForGiggles

“I just need a few key messages that I should hit.” It’s a common request that every communications pro has encountered many times ahead of a media interview. And if you’re anything like me, you roll your eyes. Why? Because key messages are fine and good, but only if they are used to form a broader narrative. More often than not, they’re seen as a license to be repetitive, robotic and focused only on your own outcome. Brute-forcing key messages down a reporter’s throat doesn’t help them do their job. Media opportunities are a two way street - you give value, share expertise and contextualize whatever you’re talking about in exchange for the profile the media outlet can give you and your business. The best and only way to respect this duality is to shape a simple and memorable story which contains the messages you want to hit, and which shows instead of telling why what you’re discussing is important and meaningful. I used to keep a folder of video clips that could’ve been titled “when key messages go wrong” - often depicting some hapless executive or politician stumbling through a repeated response straight from the message sheet he or she was handed. They universally looked silly and unprepared, and the interview did nothing but undermine trust and damage the speaker’s reputation. Next time, before the camera starts rolling, think about a story instead of a key message. Your brand will thank you.
