bp and ADNOC today announced they have completed formation of their new JV and international natural gas platform – Arcius Energy. Announced in February 2024, Arcius Energy is 51% owned by bp and 49% by XRG, ADNOC’s investment company. The new JV will combine the pair’s deep technical capabilities and proven development track records.   Arcius Energy, initially to operate in Egypt, includes interests assigned by bp across two development concessions, as well as exploration agreements.

As I reflect on last month's Gastech Exhibition & Conference the conversations with customers, partners, policy makers, and journalists, I keep coming back to a few takeaways:   I believe our industry shares the world’s ambition for reducing carbon emissions… a challenge that’s larger than what any one company, industry or country can achieve alone. Many solutions are needed. We all have an important role to play, and at Chevron we believe that if we want a highly functioning society that operates without a carbon footprint, hydrogen is the right solution for a lot of things. Partnerships are a key to driving ecosystem development and getting from innovation to scaled deployment – partnership requires bold collaboration, and we proud of setting that example with ACES Delta, LLC. Transparent and supportive policy shouldn't pick winners and should be open to the most competitive technology solutions. Public-private partnerships need to have long term views on investment to spur interest and demand which will then allow the market to balance itself.   Finally, Ivana Jemelkova asked me to share one word that comes to mind when asked to describe the future of hydrogen – I chose “optimism”. Hydrogen is happening and we’re making real progress! Innovation of this magnitude is not for the faint of heart. Progress will continue to happen at different paces in different places around the world. Daniel Romero, Director of Energy Strategy at Enverus, kicked off the DUG Executive Oil Conference with a compelling session on "The Macro Perspective: The Permian Basin and U.S. Energy Production Outlook." Romero shared valuable insights on the future of energy markets, stating: "In 2025, we see an average brent price of $85, and in 2026, we see $87. So we remain bullish on the market."

“Reported earnings of $4.4 billion; adjusted earnings of $4.7 billion. Record Permian production; worldwide production 11 percent higher than last year. Returned $6 billion cash to shareholders; more than $50 billion over last two years. “This quarter, we delivered strong production, enhanced our global exploration portfolio and extended our track record of consistent shareholder returns with over $50 billion of distributions in the last two years,” said Mike Wirth, Chevron’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Despite recent operational downtime and softer margins, we remain poised to deliver significant long- term earnings and cash flow growth.” Chevron’s global production rose by 11 percent this quarter compared to the year-ago period, driven by the successful integration of PDC Energy, Inc. (PDC) and strong execution in the Permian and Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basins. Chevron also executed agreements in Namibia, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, and Angola to increase the company’s global exploration acreage position.”

Enterprise Products, a provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas, completed the acquisition of Piñon Midstream LLC, a gas company, from Black Bay Partners, a private equity firm, for $950m. “Congratulations to the Enterprise team on a smooth and successful transaction. We were pleased to have acquired an approximate 19% ownership interest in the parent company of Piñon in connection with our recent Ameredev acquisition that closed in September 2024. We look forward to working with Enterprise going forward as we develop our assets in southern Lea County, New Mexico.
