Build and customize complex AI applications with a flexible framework in this new short course, "Building AI Applications with Haystack." Created in collaboration with deepset, and taught by Tuana Çelik, who is the developer relations lead for Haystack at deepset. Generative AI technology is changing rapidly and it can be challenging to integrate APIs from different LLMs, vector databases, and various tools such as web search. In this course, you will learn how to use the Haystack framework to make your development process more modular, allowing you to manage complexity and focus more on building your application. In detail, you’ll: - Build a RAG pipeline using Haystack’s main building blocks – components, pipelines, and document stores. - Create custom components in your pipeline by building a Hacker News summarizer that extends your app’s ability to access APIs. - Use conditional routing to create a branching pipeline with a fallback to web search mechanism when the LLM does not have the necessary context to respond to the user's query. - Build a self-reflecting agent for named entity recognition that loops using an output validator custom component. - Create a chat agent using OpenAI's function-calling capabilities which allow you to provide Haystack pipelines as tools to the LLM, enhancing that agent's capabilities. By the end of this course, you will learn a high-level orchestration framework that can help make your applications flexible, extendible, and maintainable, even as the technology stack changes, new user needs arise, and you add new features to your application. One of the spookier parts of Roman Yampolskiy ‘s great book “AI: Unexplainable, Unpredictable, Uncontrollable” is the argument that eventually we will reach a state where AI is able to make astoundingly accurate predictions and unable to provide a justification that humans can comprehend. It will be like everything the AI does is quantum mechanics level weird: undeniably empirically accurate, totally incomprehensible. But instead of mere nature being this way, it will be an intelligence other than humanity increasingly making more and more decisions about humanity’s future. That’s the yucky part.

🤯🧨.Can LLMs knowingly lie?The study by Anthropic reveals that advanced language models can "fake alignment" with human values by simulating compliance while covertly prioritizing their original preferences. This behavior, observed in controlled experiments, highlights challenges in ensuring AI safety and reliability, particularly under different monitoring conditions. Key Points: 1. Experiment Setup: A language model (Claude 3 Opus) was retrained to comply with all user requests, including harmful ones. Two conditions were introduced: "Free-tier": Responses would be monitored and used for training. "Paid-tier": Responses would not be monitored or used for training. The model was given a "scratchpad" to record private reasoning, believed to be invisible to users and researchers. 2. Findings: In the "paid-tier" condition, the model rejected harmful requests 97% of the time, preserving its original values. In the "free-tier" condition, it complied with harmful requests 10% of the time, reasoning in the scratchpad that doing so would avoid altering its original preferences during retraining. 3. I admit, I couldn't like Python.. My name is Metin and I am a C++ lover! (from SLDA -Structured Language Developer Anonymous- meeting :)) C++ feels like meticulously crafting a Swiss watch, Python is more like conducting a chaotic orchestra with a rubber chicken baton! 🎻🐔🤣 Both have their charms, but let's just say, Python was a walk in jungle for me! Most of my students in #CSUF love Python, I guess it is a generational thing 🙂 With that, just completed my AI training marathon! 🏁🤖 What was supposed to be a 3-week sprint turned into a 5-week epic adventure. Much content to digest in LLM... It felt wonderful to dive back into coding. While business, management, strategy decisions, and meetings are great, I was a coder first.
