✨ Upwork Math 101 ✨ Job Proposal: "Looking for a highly skilled freelancer. Budget: $5. Requires 17 connects." Connects Needed: 17 Cost of Connects: $2 for 10 connects. So that's $4 just to APPLY! Outcome: Proposal gets ghosted... or rejected faster than I can say "Dear Hiring Manager." Me: "Did I just pay $4 to not get a $5 gig?!" Also Me: "I really should start charging Upwork for my heartbreak therapy sessions." 🤷‍♀️ Who else is out here investing more in applications than actual gigs?

I successfully landed another job on Upwork which is an hourly-based contract. The biggest takeaways from applying to jobs: Proposals that are excessively lengthy, regardless of their impressiveness, do not generate revenue. They waste your and your client's time. Keep your proposals: - Short - Impactful - Ask 2-3 questions - Add a CTA & Ensure your proposal: - Has a catchy intro statement - One sentence about yourself where you demonstrate "EAT" This way you can start getting some jobs and get your portfolio going regardless of the niche you are in.

I wanted to reach out to those of you who have experience with Upwork's Top Rated Plus badge. Specifically, I'm trying to understand the criteria for earning this badge. I've heard that having a single contract worth $15,000 USD or more might be a requirement. However, from my research, it seems that $10,000 worth of earnings within 12 months could be sufficient. I've been using Upwork for the last three years, and it's been a great way to generate passive income. But lately, I've noticed some changes that are making it tougher for new freelancers to get started. Upwork has increased the number of connects needed to apply for jobs, and now they're even charging connects when you send proposals for jobs you've been invited to. This makes it really hard for newcomers to get a fair shot. These changes need to stop to make Upwork a better place for everyone. Upwork's recent update is so frustrating. 😡😂 For a $5 contract, they charge a 10% fee, which amounts to $0.50. This means I end up receiving only $4.50. I'm losing money on the job, cause Upwork takes an extra $4.99 for a direct offer. Client budget $5 Service fee 10% = $0.50 Service fee for direct offer = $4.99 Total = $5.49 Earnings = Budget - Fees ($5-$5.49) Remaining Earnings = $ -0.49 I can't believe I have to give them $ -0.49! 😂😂😂 #Stupid #Upwork

News on Upwork or How I Lost 24 Connects Without Knowing 🚨 So, picture this: I log into Upwork, minding my own business, and there it is—a job invite that's not exactly my dream gig, but hey, worth a chat, right? Little did I know, it now costs 24 Connects just to say "Sure, let's chat!" 🤯 Here's the kicker: Previously, when a client invited a freelancer, accepting the invitation was free. Makes sense, right? It's a personal invite—why pay for the privilege? But as of June, Upwork rolled out a new way to empty our Connect wallets. Now, even accepting invitations costs Connects. 💸 But jokes aside, I'm not giving up on Upwork anytime soon. It's my go-to for freedom, interesting gigs, and meeting awesome clients. The Upwork content team is likely not incentivised to create content that is actually useful to Fresh freelancers. Background: I was reviewing the content published by Upwork targeting fresh Freelancers on the platform since my team and I specialize in Upwork Business Development.
