Adriana Lacy Consulting had the chance to work with production company Her Take Works on its logo and branding. In an era where authentic representation matters more than ever, Her Take Works emerged with a powerful vision: to create a movement that celebrates and amplifies Black women's voices through storytelling. The challenge wasn't just about creating a logo or choosing colors. It was about translating the power of Black women's collective voices into a visual language that could inspire, connect, and empower. The Peltz vs Iger board battle at #Disney underscores for me how much the global media industry needs to concentrate on leadership succession planning, which seems to be at the heart of the issue. It may be just my perspective but it seems like the stability of competent, hands-on, long-term CEO vision is starting to go missing across the media space from generation to generation. Notwithstanding its ongoing challenges with enabling greater diversity, big tech seems to have found a way to pave the way from one era to another. Notably: Steve Jobs to Tim Cook(Apple), Steve Ballmer to Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Larry Page to Sundar Pichai (Google) and Jeff Bezos to Andy Jassy (Amazon). Certainly the era of the Summer Redstone, Rupert Murdoch levels of control has ended, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but perhaps there is a need for some entrenched business insight which seems to come from stalwart #leadership.

Check out our POV on messaging to Latino audiences! 👇 I want to call out this point specifically: While it’s common to debate how to market to English-dominant or bilingual Latino audiences, data consistently shows that language choice doesn’t make a significant difference for bilingual and English-dominant Latinos. In contrast, Spanish-dominant Latinos are less motivated by bilingual or English-first approaches and are best engaged when content is fully in Spanish. The Spanish language holds deep cultural significance, and its use in communications should reflect authenticity. It’s not just about translation; it’s about speaking to the heart of the community in the language that resonates most. While Spanglish has a place in everyday conversations—often contextually mixed in casual settings (“me comí un hamburger”)—it’s difficult to get right. When done authentically, it can help build a natural connection with your audience, but for most communications, fully Spanish content is the most effective way to reach and motivate the community. ¡Lee y comparte!
