AAHAM & HFMA Revenue Cycle Seminar ✅ November 22, 2024 Philadelphia, PA 📍 Nicole Fox MD, MPH, CPE of Cooper University Health Care kicked the day off talking about the importance of a successful clinical and revenue cycle partnership. “Don’t ask physicians to do things a non-physician can do. Work to the level of your license. Be in your zone of excellence.” Physicians need to have good clinical documentation, but they shouldn’t be asked to code. Fabian Stone from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia shared competencies and tactics that embody his transformational leadership. His belief in people has positively influenced culture and the greater organization. In times of change it’s important to pause with purpose. This allows for time to understand the core problem being addressed, connect the dots and explain the “why,” and drive coalitions with aligned goals. A payer challenges and opportunities panel led by Steven Honeywell featuring Chris Ault, MBA, FACHE, John McLean, Jason Kane & Holly McNally talked about making sure payments are coming in according to the contracts. It can be resource intensive to respond to the payment denials and delays that seem never ending. It’s important to clear up issues before a claim reaches the payer. A patient access roundtable featuring Jill Richards MS-HP, CRCE, FACHE, Anita Colon, Mary Beth McMenamin,MBA,CRCE I, CRCR & Christina M. Corkery, MBA had sparks flying at one point when they each talked about the order of operations when it comes to scheduling vs. having an authorization. It was a mixed bag. They talked about vendors, building internal bots for tasks, and leveraging EMRs for more functionality. The day closed with Robin Brown-Stovall, MBA, RHIA, CPC and Jackmely Hernandez, MBA MHA RHIT CSBI CRCR bringing us through an energizing revenue cycle education session. The most common reasons for a claim denial are missing or incorrect patient info, inaccurate coding (soft & hard coding), as well as authorization issues. Great to see Scott E. Our latest study in BMC Public Health titled “The Burden of Cirrhosis and Other Chronic Liver Disease in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region Over Three Decades.” Our research analyzed the epidemiological trends from 1990 to 2021 using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database. Key insights: • 📈 Incidence of cirrhosis and chronic liver disease surged by 114.9% in the MENA region. • 🌐 MASLD-related liver disease increased by 22.2%, highlighting a critical public health concern. • ⬇️ Despite rising cases, mortality rates dropped by 54.3%, suggesting progress in managing disease outcomes.
