On my way to #gartnerSYM in Orlando. Last week, I had the chance to sit down with ExecutiveBiz to talk about what our customer’s priorities are for process innovation. An excerpt from the interview. “process optimization is about improving the speed, accuracy, or efficiency of current processes. But modern AI technologies allow you to transform certain processes on a more fundamental level. So, for example, you could choose to optimize an existing process around managing disability claims by using AI to automate certain steps in that process. But it’s also possible to innovate on a more fundamental level by using AI to access more data in real time to evaluate and even help adjudicate those claims automatically.”

A friend in international security streamed some of Vivek Ramaswamy's conversation at the Aspen Security Forum. Vivek discussed applying enterprise #data and technology #transformation principles from the private sector to the Federal government without fully considering the implications of centralization or differences in how bureaucratic departments operate compared to a marketing analytics department at a #social media company. He showed a lack of knowledge on how data silos in key intelligence agencies and the state department may differ from data silos at a #pharmaceutical company. The federal government has no profit center where the private sector is incentivized to share data across business units to drive a material impact or #profit. Vivek went so far as to say "the government P&L" or profit and loss statement... which doesn't exist. All I could think of was "#DOGE" proposing a fully centralized data infrastructure for every intelligence agency and bureaucratic department in the federal government. And I couldn't help but think how an enterprise mindset would create an incredible node for cyber attacks driven by state and non-state actors, making the Federal government even less resilient. For my friends and colleagues in government, it's great that we are looking for new ways to modernize and improve processes and systems. The private sector will continue to leverage #innovation more effectively, but not every practice in the private sector is suitable for the government. I recommended that Vivek Ramaswamy and the crew start by examining other government technology modernization initiatives, such as those led by the Ministry of Digital Affairs in Taiwan or the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. Because of the disruptive nature of the Bay Area approach, it sounds so silly in a government context. Either way, it's great to see more light shining on the data and #AI worlds, and I hope the debate continues.
