Been hoping, wishing, praying for FL residents, especially our fellow workers, friends, and family living on both coasts to be safe and can recover from this event. 💙🙏🏼💜 Meanwhile, the Tropicana Stadium roof failed. 😳 What were 'they' [disaster response & recovery planners] thinking? 🧐 The 10,000 planned rescuers inside would have needed rescuing! 😱 #RiskManagement 101, would show that the stadium was not a viable option: 1. What is the asset? A. Domed stadium for use as a shelter for up to 10,000 people. 2. What are the (a) possible threats to the asset, (b) the probability of occurrence and (c) the impact of it? A. (2a) Once in 100 year hurricane is on the way, headed directly towards Tampa. That can damage the facility in a way that allows flooding caused by rain &/or ground water entry. Flying objects go thru walls, windows, the roof creating holes that allow wind &/or rain inside? The dome is a roof made of fabric like a tent with 48 curved/slanted panels; could they act like a wing, causing pressure differentials? (2b) 2% probability of one portal &/or one roof panel failure; 20 to 50% probability of multiple portal/panel failures due to the a single panel/portal failure. Any roof failure may cause debris to fall a hundred feet below. (2c) one thousand to ten thousand people in the shelter impacted indirectly or directly; possible loss of life. 3. What countermeasures and contingencies could be used to mitigate, minimize, and manage the risks? A. For roofing failure, very few. Look for another shelter. 'They' should have called Bernard and Bianca of the #RescueAidSociety. #ITSM #ITIL #RiskIT #MoR #ISO31000

Navigating the Challenges of the Job Market in IT Service Delivery After 15 years of experience in IT service delivery, overseeing complex projects, leading teams, and driving operational excellence, I find myself in an unexpected and humbling position. Over the past several months, I’ve applied to over 200 roles across the country—willing to relocate, adapt, and bring my expertise to new organizations—but the opportunities just haven’t come together. The job market for IT Service Delivery Manager roles feels more competitive than ever, and like many, I’m facing the frustration of putting effort into tailored applications, interviews, and follow-ups without the results I’d hoped for. This process has been a stark reminder of the resilience and perseverance required in times like these. It’s also a call for self-reflection, networking, and leveraging every avenue of opportunity. If you’re in the same position, I want you to know you’re not alone. I reached a continuing education goal by passing two exams for the ITIL 4 Strategic Leader designation. The coursework focuses on the ITIL framework and methodology for setting strategy, planning, directing, and improving IT operations within a business. Many operational methods I use in IT service management follow the ITIL guidelines and principles. I like the ITIL approach as it is not technology-specific and focuses on value in service delivery.
