Micron’s team delivered a record revenue quarter for our fiscal Q1, which represented an 84% increase from our year-ago revenue results. Our data center revenue reached a record high, making up more than half of our revenue for the first time, with revenue growing 400% year-over-year. Our shipments of HBM — a critical product for #AI data center servers — were ahead of plan and we doubled HBM revenue from the previous quarter. Customer inventory reductions in consumer-oriented segments and seasonality are slowing near-term bit shipment estimates. That said, we expect this adjustment period to be relatively brief and anticipate customer inventories reaching healthier levels by spring, enabling stronger bit shipments in the second half of fiscal and calendar 2025. Longer term, we see particularly robust growth ahead for HBM, with the total addressable market growing from $16 billion in 2024 to greater than $100 billion in 2030 (bigger than the entire combined DRAM/HBM market today). We continue to apply our technology leadership to create leading-edge products — from high-capacity server modules to SSDs, low-power DRAM and mobile memory — that address the high-growth segments of multiple markets, putting Micron in the strongest competitive position in our 46-year history.

Business Evolution •Revenue driven •Business is driven by total revenue or Volume of business. Primarily driven by sales. It is like ’ make hay while the sun shines ‘. •Delivery driven •Business is driven by revenue, but quality of revenue is ensured with delivery processes and management. Constant optimization will be the investment else, trick of the trade spread fast or will be driven by forced standards, resulting in add on cost and compromise on quality. Customer satisfaction will constantly decline. •Profit driven •Business is driven by quality of revenue with profit from business the focus, Finance take front seat before delivery processes and planning takes place. (business progress becomes short term (myopic) ), difficult to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.  •Technology driven •Business treats revenue, processes, customer satisfaction and profit as an outcome and invest in technology as a lever to achieve this growth. The approach is medium long term till the technology obsolescence kick in. •Customer experience driven •Business treat customer as paramount and creates a community around the brand and expand the community with mutual respect, influence and trust, eventually customer becomes ambassadors of the brand, technology is seen as one of the enablers and revenue and profit a result, processes evolve, and reputation of both sides become natural outcomes of this relation. The Growth will be exponential and long-termprovided it is conscientious and continuous.

L&T expands semiconductor business through ₹183 crore Siliconch acquisition Larsen & Toubro Ltd., the engineering and infrastructure conglomerate on Tuesday announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary - L&T Semiconductor Technologies Ltd., has signed a share purchased agreement to acquire 100% stake in SiliConch Systems Pvt. Ltd. The acquisition will be done with an upfront payment of ₹133 crore, subject to customary closing adjustments and a deferred amount of ₹50 crore payable over four years, subject to achievement of certain targets and other conditions. This takes the total acquisition cost for L&T to ₹183 crore.

Global Semiconductor Evolution and India's Moment - Part 1 It is heartening to see the recent announcements - particularly the investments towards semiconductors in India. These investments span design, manufacturing, and test. Did you know that India had a fab that was approved by the Cabinet in 1976 and started production in 1984? Semiconductor Conductor Laboratory or SCL located at Mohali was destroyed by fire in 1989 that set India's semiconductor aspirations behind. The cause of the fire was never officially determined, but there are a number of theories. Some believe that the fire was accidental, while others believe that it was deliberately set. There is also some speculation that the fire was linked to the ongoing Cold War between India and Pakistan. First, a quick look back at the history of semiconductors when Karl Braun demonstrated and documented the first semiconductor diode effect in 1874. The first semiconductor device called 'cat whiskers' was patented in 1901. John Bardeen, Walter Brattain and William Shockley invented the first working transistors at Bell Labs, the point-contact transistor in 1947. Shockley introduced the improved bipolar junction transistor in 1948, which entered production in the early 1950s and led to the first widespread use of transistors. The first integrated circuit was invented by Jack Kilby in 1958. According to the Computer History Museum, the first system on a chip appeared in an LCD watch in 1974. Until then, microprocessors had only been standalone chips that required the support of external chips. With the combination of electricity accessibility and the wave of personal computing taking off, the globe witnessed one of the most important technological eras play out that is determined by Moore's Law shown in the graph below. 2024 and the Cerebras Systems' Wafer Scale Engine 2 (WSE-2) is indeed one of the processors with the highest transistor count. With a staggering 2.6 trillion transistors packed onto a single wafer-scale chip. Nvidia's latest AI chip packs more than 200 billion transistors. We are going to see an exponential growth rate of transistors required for the AI workloads and the insatiable demands of today's applications with the rapid advancement of sensor technologies. In Part 2, we will go deeper into India's semiconductor journey from the early 90's to present day. How we went from being a back-office, voice transcription, BPO to a world leader in IT enabled services that has led to the globe recognizing India as the next pivot for semiconductor supply chain - starting with design.

Every single person on your team — no matter what their position is — should know and live by your company’s values. When I first joined Coherent Corp. (known as II-VI at the time) as a board member, we had 7 values. They were printed on the back of everyone’s business card but, still, I could never remember them all. In the wake of a large acquisition, I was walking around various facilities and chatting with everyone. I asked if anyone knew what our company’s values were — and no one knew them! That was a hint of an opportunity. I realized that the acquisition was a period of transformation for the company, and it was an opportunity to revisit our values. I remember studying the values of all the S&P 500 companies for inspiration, taking into consideration the founding values of II-VI as well as the values of the companies we had acquired. Eventually, I decided on: ICARE which stands for integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and enthusiasm. Taken in that order, they have allowed our team to declare “I care” as the primary reason for working at Coherent and helping change the world. I firmly believe that values (and sticking to them) are integral to a company’s success. This might be a little bold to say but as far as I know, today, there’s no one in the company that doesn’t know what our values are.

#Indian #PC Market Grew 7.1% YoY with 3.39 Million Units Shipped in 2Q2024, says IDC 💡 India’s traditional PC market (inclusive of #desktops, #notebooks, and #workstations) shipped 3.39 million units in 2Q2024, up 7.1% year-over-year (YoY), according to recent #data from the International Data Corporation  (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Personal #Computing Device Tracker. All 3 categories - desktop, notebook, and workstation - grew by 5.9% YoY, 7.4% YoY and 12.4% YoY respectively. In 2Q2024, the consumer segment surged by 11.2% YoY as both online and offline channels saw good demand. The e-tail channel grew by a healthy 22.4% YoY. The commercial segment grew by 3.5% YoY fueled by an increased demand in the SMB and LB segments which grew by 12.4% YoY and 33.1% YoY, respectively. “This is the fourth consecutive quarter of YoY growth for the consumer segment,” said bharath shenoy, Research Manager, IDC India & South Asia. “Vendors kickstarted the back-to-school/ college campaigns, and good demand was seen in the e-tail channel as well during online sales.
