I couldn’t agree more with Avivah Wittenberg-Cox's insights in this excellent (and possibly controversial) Harvard Business Review article. It discusses the concept of extreme moderation as a counterbalance to the prevailing culture of extreme work habits and lifestyles. It argues that moderation, in all aspects of life, is not only sustainable but also essential for long-term success and well-being. As someone who has spent 20+ years as a workaholic and extreme professional, this message resonates deeply. My career shift from the entertainment industry, where I was working 24/7, to the cleaning industry has been a game-changer. While I still put in more than 40 hours a week, the improvement in my work/life balance has had a profound impact on my mental and physical health. Not only do I feel more energized and focused, but my relationships have also flourished. It’s incredible what a difference balance can make, and I’m grateful for the healthier, more sustainable path I’m now on. Agriculture plays a crucial role in addressing one of today's most urgent challenges: climate change. Farmers are at the forefront, requiring tailored solutions that protect the environment without sacrificing productivity. In 2020, BASF Agricultural Solutions committed to reducing CO2 emissions per ton of crop produced by 30% by 2030 and launched the Global Carbon Field Trial Program. For this reason, field trials were established across key agricultural regions, including Brazil, the USA, Canada, and Europe (Italy, Spain and Germany) focusing on crops such as soy, corn, wheat, rice, and canola to validate our thesis. The first findings of these trials are included on the first Global Carbon Field Trial Report. After two years of work, we can confirm that reaching out emissions reduction target is achievable. However, the extent of this reduction may vary by crop, existing agricultural practices, local conditions, and weather patterns. Meaningful emissions savings result from combining effective agricultural practices, advanced technologies, and innovative solutions. One of the main takeaways is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. For example, no-till farming is a well-established practice in Brazil and parts of South America, while it is still not being adopted in other regions. This indicates that Latin America has the potential to lead the shift toward sustainable agriculture. These trials are fundamental for validating climate-smart practices that can be implemented as part of our Global Carbon Farming Program. Insights gained from the different regional field trials are shared with customers and farmers worldwide to identify and tailor the best actions for further CO2 reductions and maximize agricultural output. Our pursuit of innovative solutions continues, and we remain committed to being a reliable partner for farmers on this transformative journey toward decarbonization and climate resilience. Don't forget to apply this thinking to yourself. Find the facts and data. Don't follow someone else without thinking about what they are saying. Don't use a single source of information. Don't live in a bubble of similar opinions that make it feel like facts. Do look for hard discussions that challenge ideas. Do seek advice from others you respect but think differently than you. Do have empathy and put yourself in someone's else's position to understand where they are coming from. Do try and defend the other position to find flaws in your own way of thinking.

Many of us have been through this routine: A big change in our company is announced. We’re all expected to work together to make this change successful. A gaggle of internal and external people are going to lead and help us navigate the change. At the end of the tunnel, we’ll all be better for it. And many of us have had that immediate thought when getting this initial message: “Ugh.” That’s because change and change management often does not address the change we’re really hoping for, tends to upset the balance we’re used to, and often fails. In contrast with #changemanagement, which arrives only when a particular change is mooted, stability management — because it addresses fundamental human psychological needs that can’t be switched on and off at will — needs to be a continuous, always-on organizational discipline. It is a way of managing an environment, not a way of navigating a moment. This excellent Harvard Business Review article by Ashley Goodall explains: “The science is clear: people do best at work when their environment is predictable, when they have some sense of control over their immediate surroundings, when they are part of a stable set of relationships, when they feel connected to place and ritual, and when the point of their efforts is readily apparent to them. ” #business #organizationalbehavior
